05 vs 06 carb

So I'm wishing I had a new 450R, but for the time being (until one is sold) I'm sitting on 2 400's. I'm slowly upgrading one of them, and I'd like to upgrade the crappy stock carb. There's about 20 million posts about upgrading the stock 400 carb to a 450's so that's the direction I may go. I'll probably look on ebay and the usual places, but should I look for an '06 one, or is the new model the same as the older ones.

04/05 450r carb is a piston valve carb similar to the stock EX carb. 06 450r carb is an FCR. An FCR is superior--but $$$. The 450r carb that is popular for the EX is the 04/05 piston valve (and price is a big reason).
