how fast are bikes really?

How does a 250cc two stroke bike compare to any quad in a drag race? can it beat 450s and banshees?

its not really even a race the bike has ALOT of hp and weighs nothing my buddies 250 honda destroyed my and mine buddies 450r's not even close,ya gotta remember I would say that the honda bike is in the 40 hp range and weighs low 200's so theres my .02

i dont know about 450s. but i just got a crf250 and holy ****. the power is everywhere. there amazing

Back in "the day", I had a CR125, and it was about dead even with my buddies Banshee on top end. In a drag race, it was fairly close depending on who got the best launch. I'd say an expert bike rider could have won every time.

As far as the 450 (bikes) go. They must be geared differently or something, because a stock Banshee is faster on top end. But bottom end...oh boy....those things are nasty. I had a piped and other modded Banshee at the time, and I got completely dusted by a stock CRF 450...up until the top of 6th gear.

I haven't followed bikes enough to say so, but I'm assuming it's mostly gearing related, and that even the 125's would take the fastest quads.

a 250cc 2 stroke bike will rip apart a 450r quad on a drag anyday

my 125 will easily beat my neibors piped/filter/jetted 05 z400 so i dont see why a 250 cant beat a 450

My Cannondale has never lost to a 125cc 2 stroke dirtbike, or a 250 four stroke. And th 450's are close to me. Guess thats whats 50hp and aluminum frame does:D

Beating a 125 isn't saying much, most people have them geared to do nothing over 50 or so:ermm:

If I remember right, he was 2 seconds faster then RC. The quads could carry more speed through the corners.

JLANPHEAR: First of all I dont have a bike I have a quad but I have to let you know something, there is no chance in the world a stock banshee is faster top end vs a crf 450 bike !LMFAO we were radar gunning them about 2 months a go a guy had a stock banshee .great machine I like them ,it did 73 mph then the 2004 crf450 bike took a pass... are you ready 89 thats right 89 so I hate to tell you, something was way messed up with the one you saw or he forgot to shift outta 3rd gear!

my friends 2005 kawi kxf250 will beat my 450r in a drag by atleast 1 bike length

My stock crf beat a piped yfz450.

My CR125 will beat a 450R in a drag.
My CR also has a lot of parts on it thought.

My friend has a RM 125 with aftermarket scliencer and piston raced a 450r that had a je piston and cam and pipe they the Rm won by a quad lenght or so.

bikes for the most part are faster, my Cr 250 beats my 250R but it does not beat my banshee... the weight is the main factor...

I love sarcasm. Do you think the two wheels guys are that insecure, to have to bash ATV'ers, so as to make themselves feel more manly?

The last local race I went to, the quad guys were slower in the straights, and alot faster in the turns.

The top quad guy did EVERY jump the top dirt bike guy did.

MY guess is lap times were comparable.

In a drag, I'd give it to the dirt bike.

But then only trons drag off road vehicles.

My friend draged a stock Banshee with his Cr125. His Cr125 had a pipe and thats it. He beat the Banshee by two or three quad lengths. The skill wasn't that same. My friend races dirtbikes and have been riding for about nine years. The guy on the Banshee has been riding for a while but wasn't no racer.

my buddy has a new kx250 2stroke. it huals ***, walks all over my 400.
