I have seen them for other bikes but is there a lid for the airbox of the 300EX that is an outwear? If so where would I get one? I may have to make one myself and where would I get the material?

thanks

Outerwares makes a replacement "lid" that is just outerwear material that velcros to the airbox. You can cut out the top of the stock lid and cover it with the material then use a sheet of aluminum to hold it on. I think I got mine through magic racing but I'm sure rockymountainatv and other places carry it. You can also order larger sheets of the material directly from Outerwears.

Here's a pic of my homemade lid

I just cut a big hole in the top of mine, and stretched a pair of panty hose over the lid. Works awsome and costs a tenth of what an outerwears lid costs, and is probably the same material.

Pantyhose will not repel water but I get the idea. You work with pantyhose much???

The hell it won't, i've been usuing it for along time. The only way water gets in is if it completely submerges. I don't think anything would help you in that situation. Oh and BTW, im married and do all the laundry, so yes, I do work with panty hose alot, if that's what you mean.

Umm...my wife uses pantyhose to filter the water outlet on our washing machine and water passes right through.:ermm: I really don't think it's all that water repellant. I would stick with the outerwear material. A sheet of it is less than $20-$25 if I remember right. Well worth the extra money to me.
