250ex13,

Make sure that the LTR-450 that you purchase, is the "later" VIN # so that you will not have to get the frame recall welding done. I have had NO problems with mine, and I have had mine over 4 months now. I have done a lot of mods, and raced it a few times, and ride everyweek and it is holding up great.

Good luck..

Thanks for the quik reply!

And when you say "later" VIN #, how would i know if its a later vin #? Is there a number i should look too see if its above or something?

I don't have the exact recall notice web link at my disposal right now, but there was a "thread" posted on this a while back. You can easily search for it. If the VIN# is greater than the # listed in the thread posted a while back on this forum, it does not need welding. If you are buying a newer LTR-450, just make sure that the rear shock linkage is "fully" welded. Your local Suzuki dealer should be fully up to speed on this.

Thanks..

Guess he wasn't sure, the reason he added w/e ( what/ever) after his statement. I believe it was a magnesium water pump cover... But I could be wrong.

I found the thread for you a few pages back. Here's a link that was posted in that thread. They have the VIN No. range in there. Also, a new frame, dealer cost is only $630! Anyways...

actually it was a magnesium clutch cover and aluminum water pump cover and the recall was to replace the magnesium clutch cover for a aluminum one.

Odd... why would the clutch cover cause an issue? It shouldn't have any coolant running through it.

I always thought it was magnesium water pump covers that reacted with a lot of the standard anti-freeze coolants.

Magnesium clutch and head covers are commonplace, and haven't heard of them having issues reacting with the oils.

Ok.. the z400 has a complete sidecase cover like the 300ex has.. No easy access clutch cover like the 450's have.

Makes sense, thanks.

Honestly, I would wait and buy a 2007 because they'll be out in a couple months.
