I cant decide between thses quads. i have been riding for about 8 years. I am 5'7, 130 and im 15 years old. I have a 300ex rite now. I ride tight woods trails, hills, some sand, and a little mxing. I prefer HONDA , but if im convinced wat the heck. I ride with blasters, c125's ozark, 300ex, warrior. You how it is i gotta beat them all lol. They mite be upgrading soon also soooo idk. Im pretty sure im buying new also. Thanks.

if all your doing is trail riding with maybe a lil racing in there get the 400 ex. they are better trail quads and are much better then the z400. you will hate yourself for getting a z400 if you do. they are a ***** to work on and i don't think they compare to the ex.

the 450r trumps them all by a long shot. will will def beat all your buddies if you get one. but it might be more quad then you have to have at this point.

ex's aren't better then z400(my opinion).....there bout the same depends witch one u like better........don't get the 450 if your riding trials. they have no reverse

Go to the dealers and test ride all of them. I think that you have enough riding experience to get the 450r, if it fits you. You do not want to buy a quad based on someone else saying it is the best, make sure the quad feels comfortable to you and that you are satisfied with it. :)

If i were you i would get the 450r. They may be to much quad at first but you will get the hang of it. They may not have reverse but if your trails have hills you wont need it because you can just roll your quad backwards. Plus 450r's are so lite you can move them easy.

Well if you want to blow them completly away, i suggest the 450r. for trail rideing id suggest the 400 ex, its fast, reliable, and easy to handle. I know nothing about the z400, i suggest you go to a local place that sells the ones you want, and ask for a test drive. Most honda places/suzuki places will do that. (z400 is suzki right? lol)

I've had the 400 and 450 .. and spend a considerable amount of time on the Z400 .. I prefer the 450 myself but if you feel you need reverse then get the Z400 , I would consider the Z400 the medium between the other two.
I personally would just go with the 450... if you can stand not having reverse the extra power is WELL worth it.

id also go with hte 450 as well. reverse isnt as good as you think it is. after a little bit you get used to not having it and gain the ability or spinning hte quad around with out it or parking so you dont need to back up. Definetly if buying new get teh 450 for the extra couple hundred bucks. that extra couple hundred youll spend on hte EX or the Z in search of more power where the 450 will still have more than both even when the others are modded. DEF. go with the 450r or look into a yfz450 or a suzuki 450. all are nice bikes but youll be happiuer in the long run with the 450

get 400ex or 450r. the z400s r crap. i rode a modded one and my stock ex(except for a timing key) feels faster. the ex is a great quad, but if u don't need reverse then get the 450. i'm talking about an '05. they r the best trail quads i have ever rode, and i have ridden everything except a 250r, banshee, or Zilla.

ive have rode all of them the. z400 is niice cuz its liquid cooled but that leads 2 more problems down the roAD. i love my 400ex an i do the same riding as u and mx racing. and i havnt had any problems also honda motors r the strongest imo. put them threw hell and they keep on runing. also with a few mods or evn stock ull blow ur buddies away. i beat the craptor 700 therw the woods and a few 450s. its all in the rider 2 but id deff get the 400ex

I have rode all of them. In stock form I like the 450 better. The Z400 in second and the 400ex in 3rd.

And I own a 400ex....but it is far from stock

ya my plans have changed slightly. I kind of like the ltr450 more because of the wider stance and EFI. That thing looks like it rips from the movie clips i have watched. I also like the 450r to becuz hey.............its a honda and it looks like a better trail quad ( better ground clearance).I wood take a nice 400ex ene day also.

To me the 400ex is the best all around as far as reliability, handling, especially for trail riding. The z is a little more comfortable, but they are a little crapy. If its speed you want stock no doubt the 450. I have ridin them all, but I own a 400ex with a few mods and I have no problem beatin any of em.

I have never even ridden any of these three quads but if you ride a lot of "tight trail" as you say, you will NEED reverse. Getting off and pulling your quad gets old real quick. Other than that I agree that you should go test them out to see which one fits you better.

Ive ridden both in trials and the 400ex def. is a better handling quad, the Z seems a little tippy to me but both are good quads, in stock form and with equal mods the Z is a little faster but like i said the Ex makes up for it in handling.

i am going to have to disagree with mxdad on the reverse thing...i ride really tight trails all the time...reverse is not as necessary as you would think...it is nice, but there is always a little open spot that you can turn into and fred flinstone it backwards a little...i don't really need to get off and lift up the bike to turn around...

I agree, I ride a lot of tight trails, and do a lot of hill climbs. Revese would have been nice every once in a while, but I live without it rather easily.

and if u do it right, with some clutch and a good dose of throttle, u can just spin the thing around in just about any space.
