wont happen and if its realy that big of a deal put him and the 300ex on the track to see who wins...u realy dont need top speed for track...

if he's a good rider i could believe it, back when i was running just a T-4 and a horrible tune i kept up with a 300ex with pipe, tires, etc etc on a track.

in a straight up drag race with UNI filter w/no lid, T-4, 22" razrs and a very rich tune i could hang or be slightly ahead (less than one length) of my buddy's stock 400ex until i hit 4th gear. call BS all you want, i have a few buddies that can vouch for it.

I can believe it but the 400 was probably still in 2nd or 3rd gear. :p

I own a 250ex and a 300ex and the 250 will keep up until my 300 hits 3rd gear and then it easily pulls ahead by at least 2-3 lengths. With equal riders the 300 will win in a drag just because it has more cc's. There's no replacement for displacement.

Werd. My stupid 15 year old next door neighborhas an02 250ex and is always running his big mouth about how he can beat my 300 ex with an FST 330 kit. Every time i race him I totally waste his *** and then he comes up with some excuse like" maybe with smaller tires or a bigger carb i'll beat you. Trust me, i own botha 250ex , 2 of them to be exact, and a 300ex . There is no way a 250ex is faster. There IS no repalcement for displacment.

Either way the rider on the 300 would have to suck pretty bad to get beaten by the 250ex. When my 12 year old son is on my 300 I have a hard time getting around him with the 250 becuase it's so slow.

well if your kid weighs like 90 lbs wet and you are a solid 200-250 lbs well then of course it's gonna be an issue. i'm 165 and have no trouble holding my own with 300s, warriors, etc. then again i have no airbox and a full exhaust with no quiet core/spark arrestor.....my rear tires are tall and heavy as **** and even so if i hit it just right i can pull the front off the ground on the 2-3 upshift

if anything you just further proved my point. you're almost never gonna ride with or against someone of equal ability, weight, etc.

If you notice how my friend said he SMOKED the 300ex. Which another thing I think is very un-likely.

That's what I was thinking. I could see winning by MAYBE 1 or 2 lengths with the 250 but even with riders of unequal abilities the 300 shouldn't get "smoked" unless something breaks or the rider falls off. lol

Even when I race around the yard with my boy on the 300ex I really have to push the 250 to get by him and my son only has maybe 20 hours of experience on my 300. Plus it's the only manual clutch machine he's ever been on.

On a closed course with a lot of turns the 250ex could make a race of it with an experienced rider. There is no replacing experience. Both machines close to "stock", running 100%, on a straight away and room to run...300ex all the way. Not even close. Yes, I have both machines.

Perhaps the 300ex that he raced has a 12 tooth front sprocket.
It has great torque for the woods that way, but you can't get through the gears fast enough. I could see a 250ex beating a stock 300ex w/ a 12t front in a drag race.

I know he said he "smoked" the 300ex.. but I've see many of these "smoked" raced. Smoked = 1/2 a quad length. :D

Yeah it probably had a 12t front sprocket and 18inch mx tires on the back with a 45 tooth rear sprocket. It was probably hitting the rev limiter tapped out at 38 mph.:D
