Hey,

I just purchased a 2001 arens 250r with a 1988 motor and its got a lectron carb. I bought it from a kid that is about 5 hours away from me and the carb needs to be finely tuned.

My question is, how are you supposed to tune these carbs??

From what I heard it is jetless........can someone help me out please!!

BTW its a tad rich.

I like the power alot more but I'm still used to the way my ex handles, I only rode it one day so far. I'll have to get some more ride time on itbefore I can decide.

The chassis is a 2001 arens frame with Laeger's a arms and swingarm

The motor is a 2001 hammer racing cylinder with a 1988 bottom end with 2nd - 6th baldwin gears.

from what i understand that sence there jetless there is just like on little nob or screw to lean or richin it. by the way, are these a good item for an R sence there a touchy two stroke?

the lectron does not have jets, to adjust it you have to take the three screws out of top where the cable goes in to the carb, when you do that pull the top of the carb out and you'll have the slide and the needle. to adjust you have to turn the needle this richens it or leans it out .don't push up on it. just take a pair of pliars and turn it. one way will richen and the other way will lean it out, but i can,t remember which way does what wihtout looking at it. just watch the flat side of the needle to see if is going up or down. i always do mine one or two turns at time so i don't go too far.i don,t mess with my much if you get it where you like it you usualy don't have to anything to it after that.be sure to look at the needle when take out, as to where the flat side is so you don't put it in backwards because it won't run worth a s**t if you do.hope i helped you and didn't confused you. P.S. there is a sponge type thing in the bottom of the bowl, sometimes i have to take it out flip it. i don't know what these does but it will fix it if it has little bit of a sputter around midrange

the sponge in the bowl is to keep the fuel from sloshing and foaming

Go to their website: www.lectronfuelsystems.com.
They have tuning instructions with illustrations.

haha get a 38mmAS I have one on my R and love it, Kehin makes good carbs. I have the FCR also and the jets are the same so you wont have to buy different jets.
