Not polishing like you think, I cant stand that:p

When we do harley's and full quad builds, it always makes people unhappy to reassemble thier shiney new machine with dirty nuts and bolts. So I set up a vibratory polishing unit for just those types of parts.

I figure the pricing will be way cheap, maybe like 25 cents a nut and $50 cents a bolt, but it sure does get them like new.

Show us a picture of the machine. Is it something you bought or built? I've been wanting to try that using an old rock tumbler I have from when I was kid. Think it would work?

I still have the Red rock tumbler. I will have to give it a try. I never thought of that before. I also have a vibrating machine to clean the wifes rings and things. But I dont think she would let me use it for dirty nuts and bolts.lol

Is it a machine similar to those used in ammo reloading? I know they get the brass looking shiny and new, never thought of throwing some nuts and bolts in there. Hmmm

What are you doing to keep the parts from rusting after they are polished?

Pappy

It depends on what the bolt is made of. Alot of the bolts used by the manufactures are non coated, this process merely removes the tarnish and brings back the luster of the metal as it was when manufactured.

If they are coated with any type of non binding agent or painted the bolt and or nut will have to be re-coated, which I can handle also.

Pappy~

Got a question.... I got a guy who is interested in polishing parts. He hurt his back at work and needs income. He polished a couple parts for me on my rebuild. They have a mirror finish!

Question....can I post a thread advertising this or not? Is that legit?

:huh

please dont take this the wrong way, but that motor needs more then elbow grease. I can still spot all the scratches in it.

Dan, we have a no advertising policy except for sponsors, but we bend a bit on some things. The problem with polishing, powdercoating etc, is that 99.9% of those trying to take on work are not legitimate business. At a moments notice they can be gone along with your parts and or money. Atvriders.com will only allow 100% bonafide business to become sponsors as protection to our members.

With that said, the only huge draw back to letting alot of hobbiests advertise is that it always turns into a fight whenever there is a thread posted.

omg! this is like a message from god! i freaking hate tarnished bolts and nuts on my bikes!

looks like i will have to send you a few bags over my winter rebuild for some tlc

btw, did you ever think of charging by weight instead of count? it might be easier for when someone like me sends you 5 bags full that you could assemble 2 quads with

To have them pc'd, it would be $50

I dont polish parts, just small components that will fit in my vibratory polisher. JHforeman can hook you up with items such as nerfs to be polished.
