yah, i know its simple, but this works

sick of not being able to see into your fuel tank to see how much you have left?

well, just throw a ping pong ball in your tank, and ta da! you can now see how high or low your fuel is!

why not just have those rubble things that hang from the cap that shows how much is left, or even better, clear tanks!

I wouldn't say it is a completely stupid idea, if you're not able to see in your tank. Be careful though, it would suck to know you blew up your engine because plastic built up on a valve and stuck it open.

take a small wooden dowel and sand it down to make sure it is extremely smooth and will not leave splinters. stick it down to the bottom of your tank..with the dowel still in there, mark with a sharpie or piece of tape how high the gas would be on the dowel. that way you can stick the dowel down in there and be able to tell how full it is. learned that from working at a gas station a few years back when we had to measure the tanks with a 30 foot pole.


or you could always just look down into your tank:blah:

I usually take a bic lighter and light it and look down in there to see how much is in there....

lol...I bet mechanics like you!!! I would think that the gas would eat the plastic and like someone said, stick to the valves. I wouldnt suggest that anyone try it, just in case. I can open er up and see my gas level, unless its at night:p :p

i wouldn't use the ping pong ball, but thats b/c i can see into my tank. theres a better use for ping pong balls... if you wanna play a joke on a friend, fill the gas tank in their car up with ping pong balls... its amazing how fast they can run out of gas after just filling their tank.

i dunno about you guys, but when i look into my tank and can't see any gas, that usually means its pretty damn close to empty!!! lol, i'm just being a smart @$$, but honestly, who can't see or even hear gas in their tank?
