I also have a 06 yfz, I have heard of some problems with the cam mod on the 06. Less valve clearance than the other models. You might want to research it. As far as I know, if you go the hotcams route you should also get a high compression piston at the same time. This will take you into the race gase and durability issues. My advice after building some quads, leave it alone and buy great suspension. I think most in the know would agree.

I have just done this going from retarted cames to hot cames and a 13.1 piston with out any jetting changes i picked up about 2 1/2 bike lenghts on my buddie in about 3-400 feet. its running a little off too. going to put an open intake and rejet it this week some time will let you know the difference

thanx fellas.....and i put FLY aftermarket Bars on for a Banshee it raised up 1/2" and has a more aggresseve angle to it...i liked the ride before but now its great for me i am more confident and comfortable i think they should do a factory option for it...they are alum?meinum as well like 2 pounds lighter and i got them at motoplex for only $40...wow what a difference!

I'm on the fence about the hot cams, i've heard great stories and i've heard horror stories about the lobes coming off and all sorts of weird stuff. In talking with Lauren at Duncan racing, he said they were using a brand of cam in their motors but were having problems he did not say what cams however he did say that the stock cams are actually really good grinds. So i'm sticking with stock on mine. I pondered the same questions you did.

I just read in ATV Action (Dirt Wheels lite) that most mechanics feel the stock YFZ cam is the best, and to only retard the timing if you weigh less than 200lbs. :ermm:

I don't think you need to worry, I'm 250 and have the cam timing retarded with no issues.
