I have an LSR 2+2 axle and am currently trying to install it, everything matched up fine except for the hubs. I have stock 250r hubs and they won't fit onto the axle. It appears that the overall diameter of the axle is larger than that of the hubs. Do you have to use LSR hubs with the LSR axle?

It could be a 400ex axle...

If the axle is for a 250r than the stock hubs should work like the other guy said it is probally for a 400ex they will interchange except the hubs

diameter should be the same, just a slightly different number of splines. try grabbing a pair of 400ex hubs off ebay and see if they work

Were you able to get the c-clip in the groove for the axle nut? If you are using a stock type locknut you will need the shorter sleeve from the 400EX. If you are using a 250R antifade you will have to change the the antifade, rotor, caliper and caliper mount to 400EX in order to use a 400EX axle on a 250R.

Count the hub splines on the axle. 250R axles have 25 splines while 400EX axles are 24 spline.

I know this for a fact because I have an RPM 400EX axle on my R.

how did most of the 400ex guys put 250r brakes and rear rotor on their bike? I thought that a 400ex/250r are nearly the same except for the hubs and about 2" narrower. My friend has a 250r axle on his 400ex, in order so it fit right, he had to use a 250r axle nut and 250r hubs, everything else 400ex fit perfect.

It is in fact a 250R axle. It is marked Lonestar 250r and a manufacture's date. I have YFZ hubs which are 24 spline (400ex), they are actually have a larger I.D. than that of the 400ex hubs but they do not fit either because the axle diameter is too large. I have everything mounted except for the wheel hubs. The locknut is a stock 250r unit and torqued to spec.

deathman - if you change the sleeve for the OEM axle nut things are easy but if you are using an Antifade everything (antifade, rotor, caliper, caliper mount, longer brake line) has to be changed since the mounts for the rear rotors are totally different.

ZSK - did you count the splines for the hub? If it is 25-spline 250R wheel hubs should work.

I just got a new LSR axle no to long ago and on the right side of the axle the stock 250R rear wheel hubs are a very tight fit. The left side gose on and off easy, but the right side is a beat on beat off game. I have to use a huge rubber mallet, and sometimes a 2x4 and sledge hammer to get it to move. Yes the splines are 250R and I'm using the 250R hubs. I think the splines on the right are machined a little to large. Just my .02.

i just got a NEW lsr axle last week and ALSO found my 250r hubs to be a really tight, hammer-on fit. and the axle is marked for a honda trx 250r. the hubs DID fit in my case just had to use some grease on the splines and a BFH.

Those axles are machined & then chromed, so could be the thickness of the chrome causing the problems.

The chrome should add .004 MAX to the overall diameter. I counted the splines half a dozen times, it is a 25 spline axle. I'm going to find another pair of 250R hubs and try my luck again.

Any one have a spare set laying around? Wheel studs or not, either way.

Did you buy it new? I would call LSR.

I bought it lightly used.

I have an LSR 250R axle that is being used on a different project and the hubs fit with no issues. I guess you could "mic" the axles just to measure the differences and then try to find a set of hubs that will fit.
