Hello, I was wondering if you guys did ceramic coating because I am interested in getting my whole exhaust done in black. On another note what's the easiest way for you to give me a quote on some powdercoating? I have a very long list of parts I'm looking to get done.

A full system runs around $95 in black

Post a list of parts and the colors you would like them and I will price them for you.

I'll try and get the list up by tomorrow afternoon. I'm gonna go over the bike and make a list. Whats your turn around time right now? Also whats the heat range for the ceramic coating?

Pappy

As long as everything is disassembled and I dont have to tear apart bearings and such, turn around is usually 2 weeks or less.

I believe the heat range is around 1400 degree's.

here is my list for everything I want to be a high gloss black:

frame/ subframe
engine cases
brake lever
shift lever
bumper
front sprocket cover
front brake calipers
rear brake caliper
grab bar
swingarm
axle
sprocket hub
handlebars
light brackets
I have trail tech mr16 lights can they be done?
and some various nut and bolts
there will prolly be more after i start tearing it apart but at least thing can give me a good estimate of the price.

Then for the exhaust I want the header done in black ceramic coating and the canister in black chrome. I have another question about the ceramic coating. When the pipes get hot and u splash threw mud and the nasty will the mud burn onto the coating? I had a jet hot coating do this and it really made it look bad.

Here is a pic of my quad so you get an idea of the bike.

Pappy

frame/ subframe $175
engine cases $30 each (little less if they are small)
brake lever $8
shift lever$6
bumper$20
front sprocket cover$10
front brake calipers$20 each
rear brake caliper $20
grab bar $10
swingarm $45 stock $65 aftermarket
axle $40
sprocket hub $10
handlebars $15
light brackets $8-$10 each

There will be no difference between jet coating and other ceramics. The only benefit is when they are done in the chrome color they can be buffed lightly with fine steel wool to make them shine again. I havent had much problem with getting the black clean on our own quads though.

Im not certain on the light housings, if they are metal then i can more then likely do them

Alright well that sounds great. It will most likely be on a saturday morning because of my work schedule. Are you guys open then? As soon as I get my exhaust from Dasa I will be tearing the bike apart, so I'm hopeing I can have everything to you by next saturday.

Pappy

This and next saturday would be bad:( We will be at the track both weekends. After that though, I am wide open.

Anytime throughout the week is fine, and almost any time is fine. My shop is right here at my house so I am normally always around:p

philys21

Hey Pappy, do you have the means of removing and remounting tires? I want my wheels to get done so If I could get them takin off at ur place it would be easier otherwise i'll take them to a dealer.

Pappy
07-23-2006, 04:49 PM
i can have them removed and remounted, i use a local tire store.

philys21
07-24-2006, 12:04 PM
How much does your local guy cost per tire? Also do you have a yellow that will match the suzuki's yellow plastics? Finally my last is would you coat safety chains for a trailer?

Also I plan on dropping my stuff ethier wens or thurs. I'll give you a call and let you know. Can I have your full address so I can get directions?

Pappy
07-24-2006, 12:14 PM
Ive never done chains, I would imagine some form of plastic dip would be better? i believe it is around $10 a tire.

08-06-2006, 06:53 AM
looks great Pappy!!! Do you have any other parts done? I'm really excited to see the exhaust with the black header and black chrome can. How did the lights and wheels work out?

Pappy
08-06-2006, 06:49 PM

philys21
08-06-2006, 07:09 PM
alright well pm the bill when you get it figured out. I'm not sure if I will come get the parts it depends on the shipping cost. So when you send me the bill let me kno how much it would cost to ship it.

Thanks
Phil

Spindles were Molycoated, it holds up better then pc especially if you have to take the front end apart a few times making adjustments.

The lugs were Moly'd also

philys21
08-07-2006, 07:06 PM
They look good, the molycoating doesn't mess up the threads on the spindles? Get those wheels and exhaust done! and a coarse the rest of the parts. I wanna see them bad :D

Pappy
08-07-2006, 07:10 PM
nope, the moly wont affect fitment

philys21
08-07-2006, 07:17 PM
sounds good. I have some more stuff to send you on friday or monday. I know some a arms for sure and maybe the engine cases.

Pappy
08-07-2006, 07:22 PM
No problem, just let me know if the parts are to be the same color so i can make sure I have enough on hand

philys21
08-07-2006, 07:29 PM
yes def. the same color. When I get my new shocks if I don't go with the evos I'll have to send the springs to you too.

Pappy
08-07-2006, 07:58 PM
The EVO's seem to be gaining popularity

philys21
08-08-2006, 10:29 AM
The evos are defiantly getting popular but the more people I talk to the more I hear that they're not vavled correctly.

Pappy
08-08-2006, 03:07 PM
I havent even checked the tech stuff on them, how are they revalved?

philys21
08-08-2006, 03:10 PM
lol you got me, that's just what people have told me. I'll have to check into it, I'll let you kno my findings. Any new pics for me today?

Pappy
08-08-2006, 03:18 PM
Nothing new today, the rest of the parts are disassembled so I can now start preping them for the various coatings etc.

Scro
08-08-2006, 03:21 PM
Someone told me that the valving was controlled by how much air was put into them. And you have to keep putting air in them to keep the valving correct.

That's just what I heard though, could be totally wrong.

philys21
