how long really depends on if it has been done before. i would say to tear down to bare frame probably aobut 2-4 hours depending on how much you work, how skilled you are, and how stuck the bolts are. i mean in 8 hours we did this, went form 1 full XC quad and 1 Full MX quad to swapping out everything on both quads but the frame.

before: yellow XC 400ex and Red MX 400ex

Are you guys sandblasting the frames before you paint them? Or at least sanding them down?

If time is a concern, do what I am doing. I am going to do a frame off this winter. I know some of you guys winter ride, but i would rather be on a sled in the snow.

a good tip is to put all of the parts in labeled bags. i know i know...that takes a long time right? but it will save you ALOT of trouble later on when your doing re-assembly. organazation is very important and youll be glad you did it later. you can send parts out for powdercoat and in the meantime get everything ready to put back together. then when everything comes back youll be ready and waiting to rebuild.
