The kawasaki, suzuki, and dvx are all the same engine just different colored plastics.... But between them all, there all nice and I would prefer the Honda. But i'd test ride them to see which one you feel more comfortable on.

My piped, filtered and jetted 400EX got smoked by my mom's stock Z400 on a regular basis in a drag race. That was a different story in the woods, however.

theres really only one other 400 out there and its the z/kfx/dvx 400. those are liquid cooled and have slightly more top speed. i would go with the ex they are more reliable and they are slightly less tippy.

I'm not going to lie the z400's are NICE machines. IMO it has a better suspension stock but parts are more expensive.

400ex's rock. Very reliable, good power, and very easy to mod. You won't find a bike that is easier to mod. Except maybe an xr400 ;)

You can keep your headlights, or take them off if you want race cut fenders.

I just bought a 400EX. It is my 2nd one. I bought an 02 new, then got a Raptor, then a tricked out 250R, then a Blaster, but I always missed the EX most of all. So I bought another one this weekend. It is an 01 and I only gave $2k for it. Plastic is pretty rough, but it has a full E-series pipe, K&N, rev-box, jet kit, and a high compression piston. I think it is 11:1. I definetly think it is faster than my Raptor was. There is new factory plastic on ebay for $200, so at most, I will have 2200 in it. That piston makes a hell of a difference. If you want speed, I would definetly recommend that. Basically though, the EX is very reliable and predictable. I haven't ridden the LTZ/KFX/DVX. The only thing that might steer me towards one of those would be the reverse, but I have only been in mabey 2 or 3 situations where I wished I had reverse. I think the 400EXs are probably the best all around machine. I am not a hardcore racer. I don't do big jumps. I put around with my kids and ride fast with my friends and the 400EX is comfortable and seem to accomadate both.

I think most people get carried away when looking for a quad/dirt bike.

I do some decent jumps but I have never raced or anything. I know I do not need a brand new 450r. But some people just think they need the biggest and baddest.

The EX's are very reliable machines. I would recommend them. Plus the aftermarket is ridiculous.

One quad will pick up where the other quad lacks and vise versa. Theyre will always be pros and cons of each quad, just pick the one that fits you and you will be happy with your choice. :D
