Local Man Dead in Sand Dune Accident
July 13, 2006

A local man is dead after a head on-crash at the St. Anthony sand dunes and another man is in the hospital.

The accident happened Wednesday night at about 8:30 p.m. The Fremont County Sheriff's Office said the two men were driving their motorcycles at a high rate of speed when they turned a corner and hit each other.

It happened on a trail north of the dunes in a remote area.

Officers say 28-year-old Jeremy Crapo of St. Anthony was killed in the collision from massive internal injuries.

Eighteen-year-old Michael Pacheco of St. Anthony was airlifted to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, where he is listed in critical condition.

Deputies say both riders were wearing helmets and had safety flags on their motorcycles.

Some of you might be familiar with Jeremy Crapo and what a phenominal rider he was . He has appeared in several Sand/Snow films. He was the brother of the pro racers, Kurtis and Shaun Crapo.

The is a memorial fund being set up in the near future.

God Bless his wife, kids ,family and freinds who miss miss him dearly.:(

He will be greatly missed.

What's with all the deaths lately? Something needs to be changed. This can't go on like it is, it's ruining the reputation of anyone who rides, and it's taking lives.

As bad as it is....***** does happen...and the worst part is everyone who sees that story and hasnt been riding like that wont understand that it just happens. It doesnt sound like either one was doing anything wrong-both had flags and helmets and no alcohol is mentioned. Its just the nature of riding hard on trails like that-I've hit people and almost been hit myself. It's going to happen it just makes a difference how bad it is.

QJ-It seems like I know the name...was he on the site?
