not alot... you would have to have like a 18wheeler trailer loaded to the top to make 100 bucks. they pay so much per pound. i think its like 20 or 30 cents a pound:ermm:

this is just a guess though dont hold me to it

Around here , they pay 10 cent per can . My mom collects them , brings them down every month and it pays their gas in the Dodge truck to travel back and forth between town and their place ( cottage)

I know a couple guys that go around looking for old junk cars in people's backyard's. They will ask if they want them hauled off. If they say yes, they get loaded up and taken to the scrap yard for a quick 150 bucks:ermm:

Seems like a lot of work to me though:eek2:

livin in a new development i pick up scrap copper and electrical wire they run the houses with. Strip the wire and copper is worth more then a buck a pound and well it gets me some extra change.

we save up cans until we have about 1,000 then take them in for 10 cents a can and it pays for gas and such

Around here copper is about $4 a pound and aluminum is $0.50 pound, do the math. If your an electrican or a plumber, copper is where its at!

all scrap metals are through the roof! its an easy way to pick up pocket change and more if you get enough. old batteries are bringing top dollar, aluminum, copper and such bring in alot also.

i hauled scrap for a part time job. it pays ok, it's not huge money, but it definately pays. If you have a mixed load (all types of metal) than you get less. if you have straight steel, you get alot more. Aluminum pays well, too (if the weight adds up on the scale). Copper, batteries, and electric motors make a darn good buck.

I hope you have the permission of the electrician/builder to take that wire. Electrical contractors know the value of copper scrap and are usually inclined to keep it for themselves so I would honestly be very surprised if they're letting you take it. Our shop has had a lot of scrap copper stolen the last few months by thieves cutting through the fence.

dont feel like the lone ranger, the baseterds cut straight up our fence at work and stole about a grand in copper cable from us about a month ago. we also had to pay to have the fence repaired.all together we were out about 1500 dollars. At least they left their cutting tool and the police decided to take it as evidence to try and get fingerprints. I highly doubt they got anything off the tool though.

A guy who owns turkey barns around here got all the copper stolen off the side of his barns. God must have been looking after him or something, because his turkeys went without heat for a while.

My dad owns a scrap yard he makes good money, we mosty crush old cars/truck/vans down to like 18 inches high and then we load 12 flattend cars on our hiboy trailer then take them to the car shreder and they pay us like $1000 for a semi trailer load of flattend cars/trucks/vans. Some times we cut up a bunch scrap steel and take it to the smelting plant and they pay around $100 a TON for scrap metal.

That depends on what there made out of and how much they weigh

DieselBoy

Depends, you can make a good buck if their heavy enough. The more the weight, the more buck.

At my work we had big support beams for a big mahince we were building. 4 peices of stainless steel...weighing in at 400 pounds a peice...had our name written on it in big paint marker from the supplier...well they took each beam to 4 different scrap yards all withint the area, and the next day we got a phone call saying when to pick up the beams, where to pick them up, and the names, addresses and phone numbers of the fools who took them.

It sucks they didnt get paid...if they would took our name off those beams, they woulda had a nice peice of change!

my grandma has a field with about 100 old cars in it. We've taken off most of the peices that we can actually use, so we just need to get anything else of value off the cars, then I imagine we can make some good money scrapping those.
