I guess since my project is a 88' 250r I'll post everything here also. I was posting everything in the Open Forum.
So here is the latest reply on the other thread.

Well, Pappy has my frame and other stuff. He says that he's cleaning and prepping it for paint right now.
Not sure right now what color we're going with. I'm leaning
more towards the Copper Sparkle. Thatl' look awesome with black plastics.
Still waiting to see if any sponsors are going to throw in some goodies.
The only parts I need to make it complete is:
swinger, axle, sprokets, chain, bars, perches, electrics and motor.
I know it's still a long way from being completed but it's came
a long way from just a frame I bought from eBay.
By the way, 100% of the parts so far have been from eBay.
Man, I hardly remember the old LT-R450 that was stolen......except once a month when
I have to make that payment still. Oh well.

F-that I would tell suzuki to come repossess it :D

Man that sucks, I hate it when my quads get stolen. Congrats on being picked for the quad make over.

your still paying for a quad that was stolen?? you need to have a sirious talk with yur bank/homowners insurance/somone.

color combo sounds good though.

Trust me......I TRIED EVERYTHING!!
That thing is gone. I'm just focusing now on getting this
250r together.
I'm tired of having to borrow a quad to ride with my friends.

Kirt,

I need to know what other color will flow through this quad. Copper Sparkle will be the frame color along with some black thrown in to blend with the fenders, but have you settled on a graphics kit and if so what colors are in it?

Pappy,
I do not have a graphics kit yet.
What I can do is blend in the other parts I don't have yet
with the colors you use??

Also PAppy, so you know I am also sending you my Lonestar subframe
in a couple of days.

Kirt13
07-15-2006, 10:21 AM
Alright Pappy......the sub-frame will be at your shop on Wednesday through UPS.
I wouldn't mind some schooling on a color scheme.

Kirt13

Pappy,
I've been looking at graphics kits. Do any of your sponsors have a graphics kit I can buy?
I was looking at Nacs. It's grey with just a little red and a touch of blue.

Does anybody have a graphics kit that they have seen that would go well with Copper Sparkle and black?
Thanks for the help!!

www.graphicmx.com go through their stuff and see if you like anything. if not, you can e-mail them with a color scheme you want and they will make custom ones for you.

Pappy,
Just checking to see if you received my subframe.
UPS told me that it was supposed to get there yesterday.
THanks!!

07-27-2006, 05:03 PM
Well the below is an update on my parts. It's coming along pretty well.
Pappy still has my frame and sub-frame. I can't wait to see some pics of the painted frame on here.
I would like to put some pics on here but all of my parts are at or being shipped
to my friends shop down in FL.
The motor is being put together by Ed at Teixeira Tech.
He's building it up completely to my specs using the below motor parts.

I could have told you how to get your homeowners insurance to cover it. I know all you bashers want to say something well hold your tongue or fingers. You know hindsight is 20/20. So people **** up and others steal. I feel bad for that guy and paying for something you get no use for sucks. I feel for you and that Lt.

I am all ears!! Tell me how!! I would LOVE to have it covered.
What my insurance company said is that the quad had to be used on my property for work.
You know, I guess like a tractor or something.
Thanks for any advise!!

I guess that the person that was working my case had a little common sense.
They looked at my paperwork and saw that it was a sport/performance quad.
Usually these guys don't really know anything about a quad.
Guess I just drew the wrong person.

I've got most of the parts now. I just need the smaller parts to attach them all together. Parts like brackets, rubber pieces and so on. I'm finding it really hard to find these kind of parts. My project is a 88' TRX250r. Does any body have these parts that I can buy?
The only big parts that I am missing is tank, swinger and axle.
Your help will be very much appreciated.
Thanks!!!

Are you looking for stock or aftermarket parts?
I got a few of each.

The parts are at my friends shop back home. I'm in the Coast Guard and currently stationed away from home. You can see the parts that Pappy painted in the open forum under "Extreme Quad Makeover pics" You can do a search to find it easily.
For the big parts I want aftermarket, but for brackets and stuff it doesn't matter. The brackets I really need are for the radiator, tank, and fenders.
Thanks!!

With this frame, what type of nerfs would I have to buy? Looks like to me I would need Pro-Peg aftermarket frame style.
Thanks!!!

Kirt13

I figured out what type of nerfs I need with this frame. I need a set made for an aftermarket pegged frame, like LoneStar or Laeger..
Anybody have a good set of these that I can purchase?
Thanks!!

Well, I'm pretty close to starting the actual build-up now. I'm only missing a few parts. I don't want to start the build-up until I have all of the parts. I just got a axle and tank. I also got the petcock and mounting hardware for the tank. The only thing I am now missing is the rear brakes, front brake resi, swinger, sprockets and chain. I'm still looking for an aftermarket +2 swinger. I know that I could get a stock swinger for pretty cheap, but I want this project to be 100% aftermarket. So far everything is.
I'm headed for home in about 2 weeks. I'll put some updated photos in here of my project then.

Kirt13
10-21-2006, 11:42 AM
Alright, I just got the sprockets and chain. I also just bought a Denton +2 swinger, tires and rims.
So I now have have all of the needed parts to start putting this thing together next weekend when I go home. Pictures will be posted. It's gonna be sick!!
Just check out the parts list below.
Thanks again to those who helped me out with getting the parts!!!!

Kirt13

Pappy,
Checking to see if you received the axle and what type of coating you are doing on it?
Also, I will be home from this Friday until the next weekend.
How much do I owe you for the shipping to:

Where do you ride in Panama City. I go there like 2 a year and if there is a close place to ride I might think about bringing my quad.

Kirt13
10-25-2006, 02:06 PM
There are tons of places. dunes, trails suburban trail riding to the bar on a night ride.....you just have to know where to go. The county just authorized offroad vehicles to be able to drive on any non-paved road. There area a bunch.

crazedape
10-25-2006, 02:30 PM
sweet. If there is any one you could put me in touch with to get more info or there is a website to check let me know.

Kirt13
10-25-2006, 02:35 PM
No websites.....just locals riding everywhere. Usually we have a night ride at least once a week. We take about a 45 minute long ride through trails to a bar. Park all the quads (up to about 15) in the back parking lot and go in and drink. Take off after a couple then ride the trail back to my friends house and then really start the drinking. There are also a lot of dunes. You just gotta know how to get there. All of this stuff is out in the boonies. I'm in the U.S. Coast Guard and currently don't live there full time anymore. I'll talk to my buddies this weekend and see if I can get you a number. I'm going home this weekend through the next to put my project together.

Kirt13

Here is a pic of the axle that Pappy coated. I got the sub frame and a few other parts in the mail yesterday. The frame and all of the other parts should be here in a couple of days. As soon as I get the frame I can begin putting it all together.

Kirt13
11-07-2006, 04:37 PM
I'm trying to post the build-up pics, but I can't get my pictures file size small enough. Any body have any secrets??

I new when I started this that I would run in to problems with missing small parts. This last 2 weeks have been such an incredible pain in the neck. A lot of the 250r parts are only made by Honda or not at. Some of my parts that were sent to the powder coater came back with no bearins, gaskets and stuff like that. Some of the parts were not shipped at all like my front brake rotors........It's all good though. Things are coming together and I'm having a blast putting this together. There are no factory parts to this project so fabricating them all together is difficult at some times. Every part is beeing put together even the bearings and gaskets in the dog bone and front hubs. So this build-up is truely from the ground up.
New pics to come when I figure out how to downsize them more.

Pappy
11-07-2006, 04:40 PM
Your rotors should be there any day, the bearings that are in some of the 250r parts these days have to be replaced, no sense in re-installing a bearing that serves no purpose.

When I get parts in here that havent been disassembled in 20 years, some things literally fall apart when removed. Most folks know going in that new bearings and seals are a MUST have.

As far as the pictures, they need to be 600x400 or smaller

:p

Kirt13
11-07-2006, 04:54 PM
I wasn't calling you out. I meant just what you said. I didn't think about the internal parts until after I got the part back. That was my fault.
Thanks for the picture info. I have made the pics that small and they are still 250kb.

Pappy
11-07-2006, 04:56 PM
I even dug through old parts boxes trying to find you some fender brackets but came up dry! Maybe someone parting out a R will be able to help, they are hard to come by these days.

How much time you got left before the boat ride?

Kirt13
11-07-2006, 05:00 PM
I appreciate you you looking for some parts for me. Also the Pivot Works idea was awesome. That saved me about $200.00.
I'm not being deployed until December. I have to go back to my ship in Charleston, SC this weekend. My build-up is being done at my home town in Panama City Beach, FL with my friends.
I don't have any tools or space in Charleston to do this build.

Pappy

Kirt, where the billet peices you were short brake line clamps and NOT shock rezzy clamps? I went to add parts to my vibratory polisher and found 2 clamps and 8 acorn lug nuts which I believe are yours. Pleae let me know asap so i can ship them (I dont have any of these on our quads nor do i have any in for work so I assume these are the babies wee are looking for)

Kirt13
11-08-2006, 05:56 PM
Thats them!!!! I would appreciate a shipment!!
Thanks!
By the way, my build up is 99% complete. I just need to bleed the brakes and a couple small things. We cranked her up today. Man!! it sounds SWEET!!!

Here are the pics of the build. The pic of the stuff scattered on the ground is not all of the parts. I started the build before I had all of the parts. This whole project was totally hand built 100% every bolt and bearing by me and my friend Kevin (knelson on here).

The pic of all of the parts and the next one with it put half together was the end of the first day. It wold have been done in only a couple days, but I had to wait on parts throughout the build. The total time was about 2 weeks. It was also hard to figure out how some of the parts went together because I have never owned a 250r and had nothing to look at for myself.
Even the bearings in all of the joints were put together. This was truly a "from the ground up" project.

Well, here are some riding pics. I know that the quality is not that good. My friend that took the pics is obviously not a pro.
AND.....yes the pipe turned blue. This was from me trying to tune it after I got it running (It was way too lean). It sucks that it's not chrome anymore, but it turned so blue/purple that I think it looks pretty good.

I have 2 gas tanks. This one you see is the Clarke 4 gal. I also have the stock with a new Maier black cover.
This thing SUCKS THE GAS!!! The Clarke is just for the long trails.
But, I do agree with you, along with all my friends.

again awsome R

Kirt13

I'm also trying to get it jetted completely right. I'm at 190 right now. I think that I still need to go up some more or run high octane. The builder said that I should run half 93 and half high octane. Right now I have only ran 93. It runs pretty good, but it still feels like it's not quite right on the tuning. I plan on taking it to a shop that can do a good tune-up on it.
