View Full Version : Broken oil tank drain bolt

I need help fast, I was changing the oil on nmy 400 and the bolt broke off with the bottom on my oil tank. I'm "suppose" to leave tomorrow for silver lake and this happens. Any quick fixes? JB weld??????



I know this is the wrong forum but I need help FAST!!!!!


Anyone have one in Illinois for sale??????

You could probably use e-z-out from an autoparts store to get the bolt out. Then you will have to find a bolt the same size. I don't know about a 400ex, but on a 450r the bumper bolts are the same size as the drain bolt:p

take the tank to welding shop cost maybe 20$. Do it right the first time , don't use j.b.

i wish it was that, it's the notorious broken oil tank problem. the little nipple that the bolt screws into on the the bottom broke off the tank:(

Yeah look up a local welder, Thats where i took mine. 15 minutes and $30 later it was fixed.

Do you mean the whole bolt came out with the some of the inside.

I had to get mine welded too becuase of that. Make sure you put a rummber o ring in next time. It took them 4 days andabout 70$.
