How long does a tank of fuel usually last everyone on their 400? It holds 10 litres doesn't it?!

a 400ex fuel tank holds about 3.2 gallons, not sure what that is in litres though. i usually get about 70 miles to a tank on a long ride.

how long does it take you to ride 70 miles.are you going to leave it running the whole time. as far as that goes if i dont ride for 6 months, the gas will still be in there.lol

if im not mistaking, the 3.2 is with the reserve amount added in there. but anyways, it all depends on how many wheelies you ride and for how long, how much you spin your tires, how many rpm's you run in each and every gear, and so on and so forth. Gas milage depends on all of that plus some other things that i am forgetting

I ride in the dunes. I have paddle tires, a WB E-Series pipe, a Moose Works Power-up stage 2 kit, and a Sparks 6-degree timing advance key.

If I'm just putting aroung, the gas will last about 90 minutes.
If I'm really stomping on the throttle, it will last 45 minutes.

I have a 440 kit so idkunno if that uses more fuel (and aftermarket exhaust so more airflow

and i can ride from 11'ish to 5'ish on a tank and have to go to reserve.

Im going to start keeping a small like 1 gallon tank of gas either at camp or on the bike depending on how far out were going.

no offense but if your so worried about running out of gas why dont you buy an aftermarket tank they can hold alot more it may look ugly but it keeps ya from walking back home:)

You are definitely one of the extremely rare lucky cases. 4-5 hrs on 1 tank is extremely unusual. Unless you take breaks adding up to 3-4 hrs. Enjoy the great economy you have. With gas prices skyrocketing, you'll definitely wanna hold onto this machine for years to come.

Lets invent a quad that runs on... dirt (and it just spits it out the back again on the trail)

the gas tank is 2.6 gallons with a .4 gallon reserve and i have a 170 main jet and it takes 5-6 hours of hard pounding to get it to reserve

I ran out of gas once, it started it bog down so i smacked down the throttle, i was in 3rd gear, and waiting till it just killed, then went to netrual and just coasted all the way back hehehe, I only had to push about 10 feet, i wasnt but about 150 feet away from the truck.

I would LOVE to get a IMS tank, i just wish they didnt look like a BRAIN!!!
