haha your not the only one that wants to know... well the main reason i did it is because when i ride i like to see where my front tires are going. if theres a technical set of woops in front of me i want to see exactly where my front tires are so i know whether to speed up or slow down, kinda understand where im getting at? also i think it adds a certain sleak(sp) look to the quad and doesnt look so stock. now some quads look plain bad with cut fenders and should be left alone but its presonal preference. but i do sometimes regret it if we go out mudding after a rain on the track :o :devil

yea what jon said....also it helps reduce wind drag....so u can go faster and when ur wot the front end dont feel like it wants to loop out if a gust of wind comes.

You mean that you don't know where your front tires are without being able to see them?
You must have a stiff neck after riding from looking where your back tires are going.

Looks like your comments give some other people stiff things, chill.

I thought that you cut your fenders to go faster since you look like a BIG BAD RACER, or do they just boost your ego.

Jon dont get excited you know the kind of peeps I am talking about.

Try ripping a holeshot with 20 quads and cramming them all into a turn that only fits 8 quads. You gotta see were your front tires are at or else you are gonna get flipped.

08-18-2002, 08:38 PM
.......shouldnt be starring at the front tires u shouldnt be lookin were ur goin so u dont get flipped....i did mine for looks

Castor-426ex
08-18-2002, 08:51 PM
ok true reason i did mine...

if I get thirsty along a trail...all i gotta do is hit a mud hole real hard...and the way that maier molds those fricken fenders...I get all the drink I need:D

Makes it eaiser to see where your front tires are, looks, less weight(though not much) and resistance. Plus I don't need them 99% of the time.

08-19-2002, 06:44 AM
Just keep racin on tracks that are muddy and once you get enough mud cacked under your front fenders and hit enough big jumps,,they'll be broke off before the race is over..

Not as much to clean!!:D

I have always heard that anything that does not make it go faster, stop faster, or handle better is not really needed. That is why we don't have cup holders and CD players on our quads, but actually I think the best reason is to have one less thing to hold dirt and mud. On a soupy track your fenders can pick-up a lot of weight in mud. PEACE OUT YALL!!!!!

I really hate it when people try to talk motocross and they don't have the slightest clue what they're talkin about (roostfrom250ex). When you're in a worn out whoop section, they'll throw you around, so you want to pick the line that will be smoothest... in that case, it's nice to see your front tires. The front end is the most important thing when you're in a whoop section or on a jump (IMO). As long as I can keep my front tires somewhat on top of the whoops instead of dropping in everyone of them, I'll be ok, and it doesn't really matter where your back tires are. If your gonnna case a double, try to get your front tires over the top of the landing... if you know you can get your front over the landing, try to keep the front down as much as possible so that when you back tires clip the landing, it won't slam the front end down as hard (which could throw you over the bars). So next time you try to be a smart @ss and try to act funny, make sure you know what your talkin about so you don't come across as a retard.

without them on a muddy track YOU will pick up the dirt and mud

QuadTrix6
08-23-2002, 11:16 AM
REVERSE ......all those reasons are why i cut mine but i also did it so i can go in reverse, i stand up and push down on the front tires with my foot , so that i can roll myself back, saved me a bunch of times :) but all the other reasons are goos as well

yeah, i always do that also. i would say that shaving fenders is 85% good. i have had frenz break brackets, cause the shaved to close, shaved em crocked, and the hjust plain mud is self explanatory. theses are the major bad reasons. and the goodies have allready been mentioned.

I cut mine becase the left fender had a big crack in it and it was geting bigger.

Castor-426ex

i cut mine cuz my fneders were already broke from carrying mud not to mention they didnt shield a whole any way and on the 300ex the front fendewrs look like shnit anyway.

i have stated this on a previous post, cutting your fenders helps you see, looks cool, keeps you CLEAN on a muddy trail...
*u can find a big water puddle, trust me u will be clean but wet*:D
But seriously i cut my fenders because it looks cool, and when i am climbing hills i want 2 know when to raise that front end, and exactly where to drop it down...

my theory on shaved fenders- are your stock fenders keepind you clean? cuzz if they are.... you are riding on a road, or you live in the desert, i can say his for 2 300ex's 1 250x, and 2 400ex's...
You cant get any muddier with shaved fenders, because if it is muddy enough to get you muddy with fenders, you by the end of the day * the way i ride * cant find a square inch on my quad that isnt brown....

thats why i shaved my fenders

*K*

For real... if your not getting dirty, your not riding. And if you do get dirty, your gonna have to take a shower anyways, so you might as well go all out :D :D :D.

P.S. For some, Mom may disagree ;).
