rear alxe play

i have a ex 300 and i think its time to replace the rear bearings. if the rear end is off the ground should there be any play in th rear axle? if so how much ? if not i guess the bearings need to be replaced?

You should have NO play :blah If the axle moves at all its time for new bearings/seals.
