Recently picked up an 87 to complete my project then the same day I got it home saw an ad for an 88 and picked it up too.

So needless to say I have too many R's and I'm trying to figure out how to give everything a makeover without a skyrocketing budget.

But my questions are i) how much could I get for the TT pipe?
http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i289/250Renvy/DSCN0986.jpg
What kind of a-arms are these?
http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i289/250Renvy/DSCN0984.jpg

I might just part the whole thing out or finish it, but I need plastic and a few parts

Is it possible to put 87 hubs on 89 spindles?

What should I do with this frame? Is it salvagable? I bought it for the stickers, grommets and pegs, but don't need either now.

you could probably get 200 or so for the tt pipe... But they are hard to find, you should keep it for your project.

I'll buy your Sparks TT pipe and silencer if you want to sell them.

Matt, make an offer. I know these are highly sought after and have heard of them going for $300 on ebay but don't expect to get that.

The 88, let's just say I paid too much for it, but have been looking for one for a long time that I could actually drive to pick up

The plastic is very spiderveined junk and the a-arms are rusty and bent but I have a nice set off my other 88 and plastic can be replaced. But it runs really good.

Bee, what's so good about them? How would it work in the woods?

that TT pipe looks like it has minimal differences between it and the PT race pipe

We'll see, but I run stock unported motors. Maybe I'll switch the LRD for it.

Congrats on the new additions!

Don't put the 87 hubs on the 89 spindles. Even if you can make them fit, you'll have exessive side load on the bearings-- just not worth it. Hubs aren't that much $, and the 88-89 style look nicer IMO.

That welded up 89 frame could be used if it is straight and all the mounts line up, and the threaded holes aren't too mangled. It could use a full gusseting, though-- check out Beerock's many posts on that subject. It may fail at some of the previously welded areas if they were done improperly-- just fix them right if and when that time comes.

Don't sell the TT pipe. At least try it first.

You don't know what you are missing if you are running only stock unported jugs...

The pic with the a-arms... I don't know what kind the arms are, but I wouldn't keep those front tires. There are far better tires choices available.

Lee, I don't have any at the moment, but should be getting some in the near future.

As far as the TT pipe, I'm going to try it out this weekend. I've ordered some parts for the 87 - it's a 265 ported by FS racing? We'll see how it performs against the stocker.

BTW I run stock unported jugs because I've been running stock pipes to keep noise down. A stock pipe is almost as quiet as a 4 stroke stock pipe, almost.

Thanks for keeping things quiet. That'll help preserve our riding areas. The 2 strokes sound doesn't carry as far as 4 stroke, that is for sure-- stock or not.

I haven't tried it, but I would guess that a ported cylinder would still outperform a stock one, even when corked up by the stock pipe.

Good luck with your projects!

run a aftermarket pipe witht he stock silencer. not quite as quiet as stock but very close.... as far as four strokes. they can be quite untill idiots start taking the baffles out of them. then my 2 stroke with no silencer is quiter then their dang thumper.

Notice the replies, everybody wants to buy your pipe.

The Sparks pipes just made awesome power with modified cylinders. You've probably heard Beerock and I both argue that FMF pipes are good pipes, but that's more a function of everybody saying they are junk. The Sparks pipes are fantastic, and nowadays are impossible to get a hold of.

In fact, if you plan on selling it, I would be willing to buy it.

If you're running an unported cylinder, you aren't going to see a big benefit from that Sparks pipe. But if you do indeed plan on running a ported cylinder down the road, you certainly want to hang on to that pipe.

If you have been running a stock pipe all this time, you're going to be in for a pleasant surprise. That ported cylinder and Sparks pipe is going to put a grin on your face that will extend past your ears.
