what do you all recomend for the front? I have 20" hauler 8 paddles on the rear of my ltr 450. I am running the stock tires up front and need to know if i will gain any perfomance with front sand tires. Will going up from 20" to 22" in the front help at all? Any feedback would be helpfull Thanks

i like the sandstar fronts the best... by far... you will gain steering response... i dont know as how it will make you any faster if that is what youre asking... maybe a tad since they are light, and will float better and not grab sand...

Sand star fronts track pretty good. Kenda dune runner fronts work good too. :D

any ribbed sand tire will help your steering. you will gain atleast 10hp too! jk! but they really are nice in the sand, they don't push like stock tires, they actually grab! I personally like the 22x8 better than the 21x7 just because of better flotation, but thats just me...

Go bigger and lighter.

Sand Tires Unlimited's Razor Backs are the best tires on the market. Best flotation and light. that's what makes you faster.

Directly from SandTiresUnlimited.com or your local dealer.

Check in the back of DirtWheels, ATVSport, etc. for other retailers and pricing too.

Is this the best priced place to get sand tires ?

No. It's actually the most expensive.

If you want the best cheap front sand tire get a set of 22" Dune Trackers on a set of blue label Douglas wheels.

which do you think are better the GBC dune trackers or the ITP sand stars? Do you happen to know which is lighter? And how about AMS anyone got any feedback on these?

**************** STOP ! ****************

Just buy the least expensive, ribbed 22x8x10's on the market if you are not gonna spring for the Sand Tires Unlimited Razor Backs. Especially if you are duning @ Dumont or Glamis.

And get blue label wheels from douglas or the equivalent ITP .125's. Anything more is just added weight.

I have ITP C series on the back and was going to use the same on the front. What is blue lable?

yah- go with the c series on the fron too... that'll look gay if you have different rims between the front and the back, and those c series will look sharp...

blue labels are douglass wheels that are .125... they are the weakest/thinnest/lightest, as opposed to the black .160 or red .190

If you have C series on the back, put em on the front too. That would look goofy otherwise.

Blue labels [.125] are all you need in dunes like Imperial.

I have only bent one wheel in six years and that was done jumping Gecko when my front wheel hit the lip of the pavement, and it still didn't go flat.

Lighter wheels up front keep the tires on top of the sand and don't oversteer while turning.

Lighter wheels on the rear lets your engine rev much quicker and of course aids in flotation.

When I first moved to Arizona, I still had .190 / beadlock wheels from MX racing back east. The biggest improvement you can make on your bike getting it dune ready is to run the the lightest wheel combinations with the best flotation and to NOT OVER paddle your quad.

And understand that what works best on a built 2 stroke is not what works best on a 4 stroke. The power characteristics and weight differences of the two calls for different applications to optimize your duning pleasure.

Do you think .125's would cut the chicken at sand lake?? Im going to order some sandstar rears soon and i was looking at the GBC Dune trackers for fronts cause they are cheap. I was thinking more .190's, then i thought about .160's. But i really dont know, i've never bought sand tires before. BTW stock 400ex

Don't get over a 160, And sand stars are to much tire for a 400, and contrary to what some others tell you I think they SUCK. Get some sandsharks for cheap and you will turn better. If you want better get sand skate's

Sand stars are not too much tire for a 400, I gotta pair and they are better than hauler 8 paddles, never have ran sand sharks, but my buddy has them on a mojave...they do pretty well.

I guarantee that if any 400ex owner could do a 'blind taste test' with all the different types of paddles they would choose the Gliders.

The general public is brainwashed in to thinking that Haulers are the best because the Banshee guys have been singing their praises for a decade and anybody who wants a V pattern likes the Sand Star cuz they are the newest and are the most stylish.
