No spark, 400ex

Having a problem with a 400ex. Was riding it and it was running great, shut it off and it wouldn't fire back up. It has no spark now. Started with the obvious things, new plug, grounds, key switch, kill switch and everything seems to be operating fine. The quad will roll over and the lights come on. The fuse is good but I get no power to the coil and can't find any power at the CDI with the key on. Any ideas fellas?

I don't know about a problem, but its deffinitely a situation ;)

First thing I'd check out is the exciter coil (it's part of the stator). The coil and CDI are powered exlusively by the exciter coil. The lighting coil (the other part of the stator), reg/rec, and battery powers everything else.

A service manual will give you detailed procedures for how to check exciter coil.

if your not getting any power to your CDI, than you most likely have an exciter coil / stator issue like GPracer said good luck
