View Full Version : looking into 440 big bore

i am looking into installing a 440 on my 400ex. i am looking at the wiseco kits on ebay. if i want to run pump gas do i need the 11:1 ratio? and my second quesion is will i be able to get away with the stock carb for a while?

11:1 will be the highest comp. that pump gas will still run OK . As for the stock carb., the 440 bore won't affect the carb. so your stocker will be fine. Headwork ( porting/polishing ), aftermarket pipes and airfilters are when you need to rejet your stock carb or go to a bigger carb.

i have the 440 big bore in my 02' 400ex....i bought the scaryast kit from worldwideperformance.com and it has givin me massive power gains....im hanging with my dad rappy 700 now....and yes you can get away with the stock carb...you just have to rejet it....all i had to do was install a 165 main jet...and now its runnin like a raped ape....if you have any other questions just pm me

so if i buy the kit off ebay which includes the sleeve, the piston, the gasket and a hott cam, will i need to buy any additional parts. i do plan to port/ polish. i have a dmc pipe with k&n intake and white bros rev box. i just want to get a good idea at exactly what i need before i spend any more money. thanks for th help guys. its much appreciated.

With a built 440 you will need to keep an eye on the head studs. Some people have a problem with them pulling out. Some people also like to change the rod with a 440. Finally, the 440 will put a lot more stress on your clutch but there isn't a whole lot of options that are better than stock without going broke.

i love my 01 440 over my 03 raptor its so nice the power is alot more predictable.i can run through all the gears in a wheelie and it never seems to lack power till i hit the rev limiter.im actually looking into putting in a stroker crank and a better set of pipes also a rev box just to run a longer wheelie but the 440 is killer for all around power
