Parts guy hooked my up with a set of EBC FA84X brake pads yesterday for the rear of my 01 400ex. Went to install em last night and I couldn't do it. The piston would not compress in the caliper deep enough to allow the new pads to fit over the rotor. I have changed a lot of disc brakes in the past (cars, trucks, atv's) but this is the first time I have done my 400 and they just won't fit. Any thoughts?

Do you still have your parking brake on? That can cause That sometimes. You should just buy a parking brake block off plate.

did u use a c-clamp to compress the piston. Not trying to be a smart *** or anything. Just curious?

Parking brake is not on (but still installed) and I used a c-clamp to compress the pieston as far as it would go. Is there any other way to "back off" the piston?

if the parking brake is still installed on the caliper end, the piston will not compress in all the way. Adjust this so there is no more pressure on the caliper and the piston will compress in. It also helps a little to take off the rear brake resivour cap.

Yeah, i'm guessing there is no where for the fluid to go.

Make sure your resevoir cap is off.
