View Full Version : 300ex is hittin the reverse limiter at high RPM's

i have a 98 300ex ...... yesterday i was riding i was 5th gear tapped and it started to bog down like i was in reverse...Then this morning when iwent to start it the reverse light came on but it was in neutral :huh
Any help would be great

Once happenned to me when I had my 300. I bought the CDI box, coil, wiring harness and still was hitting the rev limiter in forward. Then I found out some wire on the bottom of the right case were loose. Reconnected them correctly and never had a problem after that.

I have had the wires on and off many times...sometimes itll go into neutral and sometimes itll be in reverse:confused: and then again today i went to hit the starter and the netral light dimmed but it wouldnt start:huh i moved the quad sround shifted in and out of neutral like 20 times but still nothing.....then i pulled in the clutch and it started:huh This quad is really making me mad
Any help would be much appreciated

You have a short in the wires that connect to the safty switchs located near the brake pedal. I am 100% positive this is your problem.

same thing happened to my 96 300 it would rev to like 3000 rpm goin foward and like 5000 rpm in reverse:huh
but it was just that them wires near the brake lever were loose
