That what I did to mine. I just cut out he lid to match the hole in the HRC lid from the 05 model and added a Prodesign system with a K&N, and replaced the main from the stock 120 to a 170. I replaced the stock nonadjustable needle with the 05 crf 450 needle which is the HRC needle.I replaced the piloet from a 42 to a 45 and it seems to be a little rich. I think stock on the piloet is fine. I then added a DMC slip on exhaust and it's got more power than I know what to do with. If your not into the HRC kit then do these mods at the least and you"ll be surprized at the difference in power and sound:rolleyes:

I cut my lid on my 06 and I have a Sparks Filter and billet adapter......took the baffle out of the exhaust......and right now I have a 48 pilot and a 160 main...with the CRF needle on clip 3 from the top.....it seems to run good...but I just got to go for the first real ride saturday so I'm going to do a plug check this week and see what i looks like and.....and the stock needle on an 06 is not adjustable.......just go buy the CRF needle.....also drop your leak jet to like a 40 or so...I'm running a 42 and it gets rid of all the lag and bog that everyone complains about....and you don't need an 80 dollar Quickshot cover to get rid of the bog....
