ok i was driving my bike a few miutes ago turned it off and when i wnet to turn it back on the nutral light,headlights, nothing turned on and it wouldnt start..i jumpstarted it and the headlights and everyhting came on..so is my battery dead? and if so then how do i charge it?

After you shut it off the last time, did you try to start it back up. If it didnt start. your battery is prolly dead. You can use a low amp charger to charge it back up. I forgot to mention there is a 15 amp fuse near the starter solenoid/battery box that you need to check as well, prior to re-charging the battery.

yes just go for a ride and it will charge its self.

lol...Just ride it for a while...maybe an hour or so... Just long enough to let the altenator charge the batter back up :cool:

maby, my old 300ex took a hold day of riding and it still didnt have alot of juce. so go for a long ride and see what it dose.

what do iahve to disconect in order to take my battery out of the bike? and do i need a certain type of batery in it? im considering just buying a new one

all u have to do is take the positive and negitive wires off and then what ever honds it in place.

what quad is this?

its a 2001 400ex..iv never done anything like this b4 so i have no clue what to do..you mena the wires that connect to the positeve and negitive things? that are screwed on?

yes then take the battery retainer off and take the battery out. The battery will be in a seperate container, you can take it out prior to charging.

dude its no that hard just go look at ur batery and take all the necessary things off to get it out:rolleyes:

ok then only thing i need to know is..how many volts and amps to charge at? i need it in a few hours

On the 400ex's, dont know about the z400's, I just assumed that you had a 400ex. But anyway, the battery will be inside a plastic retainer and then there will be a plastic peice that holds the battery in.

Take the battery out, self explanitory.
Attach the charger to the terminals (pos to pos...neg to neg)
Put the charger on 6 Volts and let it charge overnight (not going to be ready in 2 hours, sorry)

can i put it on 12 volts so it will charge faster?

No, you are really supposed to use a "trickle" charger, but 6V will work as well.
