I've needed shocks forever, and now that all 3 of my stockers need revalved/filled, it's time to buy new ones.

I need something cheap, but something that will be good too. I may also get a-arms. Tell/show me your setups and make some reccomendations, please! Prices would be great, too.

Elkas rock bro...looking at about $900 for long travel tripple rates w/ piggyback rezzys. Houser +2's and Elka LT's are hard to beat!!

Yea for sure elka rocks. some people look into them kits that have a-arms,shocks etc. If you aren't trying to spend a whole lot of money i would get a pair of works shocks. check out ohlins shocks, pep shocks and axix shocks. see what ya like.

I bet those rock, but I highly doubt they are very cheap. ;)

Best bang for the buck would probably be a set of Elka Recreationals. I beleive the price on TCS isn't too shabby either.

for my 250r i got a package from denton racing with the denton racing arms ultracross +2+1 and tcs dual rate and rezzys, and they work great, it was about 1200.

I have works tripple rates with rezzies, and Burgard +2 a arms. I got them used for 500 dollars. I was lucky and the shocks I got didn't need to be re-valved.

I'd really look into tcs. From what I've heard everyone's overly satisfied with them.

Not sure if it's too late, but you should also check out iShock! You get everything you need all in one package and I love mine. I have the i5500 setup.

www.ishock.com

They will also revalve your rear shock for you...mine made such a huge difference.

Cant say enough good things about my evols. Wouldnt trade them for anything. Lots of adjustability and lighter than a standard shock/spring combo by alot.

ZPS 20 click, best bang for your buck.

Or Race Series or Limited Mass if youre on a tighter budget.

I race XC where the races are 1.5 hours long and I use elka recs up front. I like them, but then again, never rode of something else.

I'm getting TCS this winter.

Not trying to be a jerk or anything, but the shocks on the Predator are too long. See the bumpsteer at full droop like that?

SVTPete
07-09-2006, 06:42 PM
The shocks are perfect length. The only things that cause any bump steer on this pred are the crappy full flight a arms. They have been sold and am waiting for some ones from rath racing.

You build the shocks to the brand of a-arms. I agree that FF is not the best, but I hope that the Rath arms match the shocks you already have.

For the money, I would say Elka Rec Series fronts are the way to go. I have them on my 400 and they are a huge improvement over stock. My only problem is that they are valved for trail riding and I have been doing some MX recently so the setup isn't quite right. But nonetheless, they are a great shock for the money. Combine them with an Elka remote reservior rear if you have the money, otherwise you can just get rear rebuilt.

If money is no option, I would do Fox Float Evol X's up front with a Podium X in the rear or a full Motowoz setup. Best money can buy.

Yeah Fox makes great shocks bro... I have never rode on a set of floats, but I have rode on a set of Elka LT's, and WOW:eek: Going from stock 400ex and then riding that quad with Elkas was amazing!! The whole $1000 price tag is why I don't have a set...YET!! :D

How much are those Fox shocks, and where do you think I can get a set? I looked on eBay to no avail... There are no local dealers. What website sells them?

ohsobad_chevy
07-12-2006, 09:35 AM
Found some Fox Float evols on ebay for an LT-450r for $1200. Sounds a lil high to me, you should be able to find a set for your R for about $900.

Retail on the Fox Float Evol is $1295.00... I doubt your going to get them for $900...

If your interested, i have a standard travel Burgard/Elka for an 04-06 450r i'd be willing to sell. Its off my sisters 06 450r and she never rides it, so i'd sell it. ~Jay

id say best bang for the buck are derisri rebuilds. im lookin for a-arms and i can get some brand new fullflight +2 ones for cheap. im on a budget and those look like a good way to go. what do you guys think about em?

My opinion: I would wipe my arss with the derisiri shocks and pisss on the fullflight a arms. :D You asked, I told...

I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for, if you dont have enough money to buy "quality" stuff, then save your money until you can afford it. The way I see it, you can put 400 into fullflight a-arms and ride the shiit out of them until they bend/break and then you have to buy a new set....OR... you can spend 700 on a set of housers or roll design and get good quality. Dont take this as personal bashing, I am just stating my opinion.:)

Full flights suck. I had a set for 4 months. The geometry was all wrong on them and at full extension they hit my shocks. Do not buy its a waste of money.

Buddy of mine bought some fullflights for his LT and they didnt line up correctly for the install and they bent pretty bad after the first 2 rides. :ermm: He rides pretty hard...I told him to spend the extra money, but hes a tight wad! :p

I was 100% decided on ASR arms, but decided to just keep stock width. I think I have only heard bad things about the heims. Just switch them out to Balljoints.

so get ASR or no? im really wandering cuz theyre cheap, have a warranty, and are +2 which will help out with suspenion

I would say yea. Just call ASR and ask them about the ball joint upgrade.
