I have seen a few 400ex's with the aftermarket grab bars. I was wandering how hard it is to do that. Can you still have the brake light when you do this mod?

A lot of places will modify the stock subframe by welding on some plates to accept a aftermarket grab bar

if you tighten the bolts down enough, it is very sturdy

my wife is pretty active with the bikes...if she wants to ride it, she needs to know what the parts on it are....she has not had a chnace to ride the 400ex since i turned it over to her. the last time i rode before i bought the 450r, she rode the last half of the day on the 400ex and i was on her 400ex. altho0ugh she does get tired of hearing me talk about the quads all the time

I just welded some tabs on the subframe.

Do you have to cut off the stock grab bar when you weld the tabs on for a aftermarket one??

Thanks for the post guys.

Franky G what year Z-400 grab bar did you order and did it fit perfect on the frame or did you have to fabricate the subframe more when you cut the original grab bar off to get the Z-400 one to work?

ya, I cut the stock one off, then welded tabs on with nuts welded on the tabs
