problems with my front wheel bearings, help?

i have a 99 400ex and i can shake my front wheels inward and outward like the wheel bearings are worn out but i took the front hubs off and checked the bearings and they are fine what could the problem be here? is there supose to be a washer inbetween the nut and the hub or no?

check your spindle nut. that could be loose causing your wheel to move.

well the spindle nut was as tight as it was going to get it was out of threads it couldn't be put on any further

Replace the bearings. that should fix the having wobble or play.

There are two thick washers (about .5 inch) on each side of the hub; one on the nut side, one on the caliper side.

Well you might also want to change the bearings. Mine was doing the same thing and mine also seemed to be intact. But I replaced them anyways and the problem was fixed.
