I know someone that is planning out a XR650 motor in a 400ex frame. He already has one of them in a Warrior, the 400ex is lighter so idk lol

Hoped this helped any......

just wondering why do you want a raptor engine in a 400ex frame?

ya there is someone on here that put a xr650 motor in a 400ex and it looked just like the stock 400ex engine but it was just a little bigger. i would use an xr650 befor a raptor. JMO.

I would agree.

The older air cooled XR650 morot in the 400ex frame would be a much better fit-up. Or the newer water cooled XR650R motor in the 450r frame.

I dont think I would put a raptor engine in anything except for maybe a go-cart and it still wouldn't be the engine of choice.

The XR650 was in a magazine once. It had two mufflers, and they looked sweet - they sat on top of each other.

ive had a raptor and now i have my 440ex and the ex easily compares to the raptor so why bother with the engine swap just build up the ex motor. with the right gearing and engine mods you can smoke a raptor mone will take a preditor and im willing to wager a raptor havent found one to race yet but im sure itll pull it

Here's a XR650R quad (It's actually a 680!). It's not an EX conversion but rather a custom designed/build chassis. :eek2: The owner/builder is registered on this site but I don't think he's ever posted...

There is an XR650R and there is an XR650L. They are completely different bikes--they don't share any parts. The XR650L is a street legal dual sport that is heavily based off the now defunct XR600R. The XR650R replaced the XR600R. It's liquid cooled and has an aluminum frame (a backbone aluminum frame, not a parimeter type like the CR/CRFs). You can buy both the R and the L brand new--but both bikes' days are probably numbered, especially the L.

The XR650R is the king of the Baja 1000 (it's won every year since it's introduction in 2000) and walks all over the XR650L in every way except maybe seat comfort and ease of street "legability".

I've got a (street legal converted) XR650R and freakin' love it.

OOO i see, i would go with the xr650l motor just cause i would want to keep the same look as the 400 motor. That would be an awesome hybrid!

It's really close in design to the 400EX chassis, except it is taller and has motor mounts built in just for that motor. VERY nice. Any more pics?

I don't know the owner personally. He mentioned his "TRX680R" on another board so I asked him about it. He sent me links to a bunch of pictures--pretty much a full set detailing almost the entire build.

I asked him to head over here to share. He mentioned he would but I figure he hasn't had time yet. I don't really want to post any pictures (whoops, I already posted one that may not be public--hope he doesn't mind  ) without his permission.

Here's a link to more info about it: Offroad.com (http://sandsports.off-road.com/dunes/article/articleDetail.jsp?id=353848)
