best rear shock set up

I'am looking for a replacement rear shock for my 400ex hybrid but I don't really know what Iam looking for all I know is that I don't want to lay out a whole lot of money.I mostly do rec riding but do love to go and hit the motocross track , any help would be great

you could have your stock shock rebuilt and set up for your riding style and weight.
