I'm trying to take off my 400ex to replace the bearings but can't seem to do it. The bike is old and beat up I bought it for $700 bucks and I'm just trying to rebuild it and don't really know about quads. So do you turn the nuts on the axel towards the bike or away from the bike.

Please Help

Sorry for the above thread
I'm trying to take off the rear axel to replace the bearings. And my knowledge of quads mis mainly riding and preventive maintenance. This fixing and rebuilding is new to me.

first toward the swingarm, then after you remove a clip then you take them away from the bike and off of the collar...

go here and use the rear axle and the swing arm diagrmas for help

Loosen the inner nut(closest to swingarm) first, and then do the same with the other nut untill you reveal a c-clip. Then take a couple screwdrivers and pop the c-clip off. With the right finesse it is pretty easy. And then everything should slide off.

Thanks I got it off but I had to cut the nut off couldn't get it to move. Found out I've got more problems than just bearings in there. Thanks for the help.
