View Full Version : motor removal in a 300ex

how fast can you do it, i am going up to my parents house this week and i want to yank the motor out of my 300ex so i can fix it, should not take to long huh?

It shouldn't take more than 3-4 hours tops. I took an engine out of a quadsport 230 last week with help from my son in about 2-2.5 hours.

to take it out is easy. Start draining the oil (20 min) take the plastic off.(5 min) take the tank and the carb off (5min) Undo all of the motor mounts. (5min) undo all of the electrical connections and lable them (5min). take the left foot peg and nerf bar off (5 min) Then slide her out. Its a real pain to get it out. you have to like turn it sideways.

Just as a note.. unless you're digging into the tranny, or replacing one of the case halves (sidecases not included).. you shouldn't need to remove the motor.

yeah, but I find it really easy to work on out of the frame. Like you dont have to sit on the floor, you can stand. I would take it out. I took it out for my top-end rebuilt and I thought it was comfortable, especially when I needed to take it to my friends for some tools.

it wasnt hard gettin it out for me but gettin it back in was a pain

haha i did not even bother doing it yet, i dont have the time, and i just bought a new king quad so the 300 is on the back burner till next summer when i am donr with school
