Intake and Exhaust Valves

How do you know which of the four valves are the Intake and Exhaust Valves?

Well common sense will tell ya. Are ya ready (you will probably smack yourself in the forehead) the intake valves are on the carb side and the exhaust valves are where the exhaust comes out of the head.
