Im sorry to say this, and I dont mean to sound rude, but this thread is not going to turn out well. Everyone is going to give an opinion on what they think is the best pipe. Here are the ones taht you are going to hear, HMF,Sparks,Yoshi,HMF/WB,WB, and from me and me only, Supertrapp

Slip-on pipe I'd vote the HMF.

Full pipe.. most definatly the Sparks X-4. Very well priced for a full system pipe to boot. $349.

Edit: fixed my typo on the price.

i would agree, but ive never seen a full X-4 system for that cheap... but still either HMF or Sparks, HMFs full system is like $400 the HMF W/B combo isnt a bad alternative if you buy the slip on then you can buy the W/B header later.

Oops, typo on my part....

$349 is what Sparks sells them for.

What makes the Sparks better than many of the other combos, it the craftsmanship. The inside of the header pipe all the way to the silencer is as smooth as a baby's butt. Smooth = low turbulance (sp?) = faster flow = more power.

Thats true, but the performance of a Sparks system really needs to have a modded engine to get the most of its power. But if youve got a modded engine and the money to spend the Sparks stands out, if your on a budget go with a HMF slip on.

For it to really stand out, yes..

But, the stock header is soooooooooo restrictive once you swap out the filter, and remove the lid. The 300ex really will benefit from a new header and silencer.

An HMF slip-on w/ a FMF or WB header is a great combo.. but you aren't saving anything money wise over the Sparks X-4 full system. Of course unless you are able to find a used header on e-bay or something. ;)

HMF's full system for the 300ex is $100 more than the Sparks. I don't know why they made it so expensive.

I know, HMFs slip on is like just over 200 bucks, their full system is like 400. It doesnt really make sense, if they were to sell it for about the same price as the sparks they would sell a lot more im sure.

The price for the HMF full system is a sticky in the 300ex forum on the HMF website.

Where can you get the curtis sparks for 350...I see it for 400 on flea bay. I think I would be a player at 350 though.

I was thinking the outerware lid, K/N filter, Pipe and jet it properly...that should make a good difference.

According to sparks site you can order it directly from them for $349 (plus shipping of course) for the X-4 race version. And yes it makes a huge difference.:macho

I agree. You used to be able to get the tuneable disk setup for $50 extra. Now it's just a cheap screen type spark arrestor. :ermm:

How would you rate a Yoshimura RS-3 FULL EXHAUST to this Curtis system?

I honestly couldn't tell you. I haven't had any experience with the Yoshi. I have heard it's an excellent pipe though. From what I have read I doubt you will be able to tell a difference between the two pipes power wise.

x-4 vs. rs-3 on the 300ex is pretty much dead even.

Additionally if I could get just a slip on versus a whole system...is there much value in the header?

Yes. The stock header is very restrictive even for the stock engine. If you plan on building up the engine at all the full system is almost a necessity.

Hey forgiven...

The spark arrestor is only $15...it's the jet kit that adds $50.

$445.00 for the complete system w/jet kit and spark arrestor.

Not too bad of a price from what I've been finding in my research and people seem to think the Sparks system is a good one....I'm seriously thinking about pulling the trigger.
