DSP Power-Now for Low End power

Has anyone had a chance to use the new DSP Power-Now Unit? I recently removed the silencer from my Exhaust looking for a little more on the top. I winds out nicely, however there is now a serious lack of low end torque. I've even noticed that the power band seems really flat.

My jetting is (165 Main, Pilot is stock). Its a full Yoshi RS-3 Comp exhaust again with no silencer. I'm thinking to try a 160, 155 main jet to lean it out a little. I basically do not want to drop $100.00 on this DSP Power-Now thing unless I get some good feedback that it actually does what they say it does.

I've never actually used one but I've read a lot from those who have. Here's the scoop: The Powernow devices do make a small difference at smaller throttle openings--less than 1/2 throttle and most pronounced at around 1/4 throttle. The downside is that it restricts the flow of air at larger throttle openings which will hurt your peak HP. Stepping down one size on your main (and perhaps leaning your needle slightly, depending on how sensitive your needle is) when using a Powernow device is normal to compensate for the reduced flow.

IMO, your $100 is better spent elsewhere.

i put one ony my 450r looking for the little bit more bottom end! the consept of it seemend great but it had very minamal diference.

GPracer2500 said it best your money is best spent somewhere elese!!!

i agree with ridered03.i installed on my 450r and had very little results.i don't think it was really worth the money.if u want better gains buy a good pipe and rejet to the pipe.theres a huge difference,while replacing the full system pipe.my opinion

Guys thanks for taking the time out to save me $100.00 The machine definetely needs to have the jetting and everything related dialed in correctly. If anyone could send me a link on a good article related to jetting and tuning the carb that would be great.

Bwamos you are the man. That article is absolutely insanse. I read through it twice and have a very good idea of what is going on with my machine. I will be sure to post my results after I re-jet my wheeler and get everything dialed in.

Also, the next thing I'd do for power would be looking into a camshaft for a quick bolt-on increase (will require a jetting readjustment of course).
