Stock:
tires are 22" dia in the front and rear.
Front sprocket: 13 tooth
Rear sprocket: 38 tooth.

If you are running 20" rear tires.. go with a 14 tooth front sprocket. (note: you will need to grind about 1/16" off of the "case saver" so it will fit. You could also go with a 36 tooth rear sprocket. Slightly lower gearing.. I'd go with the 14t front.

If you are running 18" rear tires.. you want 14 tooth in the front AND 36 tooth in the rear. If you're replacing both sprockets, I'd go ahead and replace the chain too, while your at it, so it won't wear out your sprockets as quick.

I agree with bwamos. I have a 36t rear sprocket, that was mounted onto my quad and then taken off with out even starting the motor. Wouldnt fit right with the chain that I had, i was inbetween links. $20 shipped.

so he doesnt have to do any motor work to it??.....just change the gear or go with smaller or bigger tires???

that 330 might need to rev higher too, but i would do the gearing changes first to see what ya think.

remember
More teeth on the front sprocket=more topend
Less teeth on the front sprocket=less topend
More teeth on the rear sprocket=less topend
Less teeth on the rear sprocket=more topend

get an unlimited rev box to. that will help

Aye, the regearing should help a LOT.

The 300ex w/ the stock rev limit tops out at ~55mph.

With stock 13/38 gearing and 18" tires you're hitting the rev limiter at 45mph.

With 14/36 gearing it will take the top speed back up to about 52mph.

Beyond that (depending on headwork/cam combo) you may see a great bonus from an aftermarket CDI, or even getting the stock CDI's rev limit increased.
