Ok guys i just got back from the dyno
My 370PV made 56hp

370Pv ESR cylinder 215 PSI compression, trx 11 port
Running VP 110
cr ignition
40.5 ESR carb 185 main, needle on 3rd clip
trx 5 pipe

Do these numbers seem low to anyone else?

yea they seem really low. I've heard of 265's making almost 60. Was the jetting spot on, or was it revving out high enough?

jetting is good, even if it were a little off it wouldnt make a 10-15HP difference.

if it has a trx 11 port shouldn't i have the trx 11 pipe? The pipe should match the porting right?

WareRacing

not really, ones just all out top end the otherone isnt.
but still a 10-15hp difference?

Yea that makes sense. The trx 11 port is made to make all its power uptop. It's pretty much drag porting. If you have a pipe that is a midrange pipe, your not taking advantage of the port. Sure its still going to make power, but i bet if you put a trx 11 pipe on there you would be amazed.

Port description:
The NEW TRX11 EXTREME ported cylinder takes top end performance to the next level. Ported for all out high revving power, this cylinder redefines "top-end performance." There's no cylinder on the market that can draw comparison, and it's soon to be the hill racer's and drag racer's favorite!

Pipe Description:
THE TRX5 PIPE IS AN
ALL-AROUND PIPE THAT POSSESS
EXCELLENT POWER THROUGHOUT THE
RPM RANGE. UTILIZES FACTORY MOUNTING
LOCATIONS & HARDWARE.

They aren't designed to go together. For the best performance you want the trx 11 pipe.

TRX 11 pipe description:
THE NEW TRX11 PIPE IS DESIGNED
SPECIFICALLY FOR HILL SHOOTERS & DRAG
RACERS WHO DEMAND PEAK TOP-END PERFORMANCE
AND ARM WRENCHING POWER! CAN BE USED WITH ANY
STANDARD SILENCER, OR USE OUR OWN TRXM BILLET
SILENCER. UTILIZES FACTORY MOUNTING LOCATIONS AND
HARDWARE. FITS ALL TRX 250R.

We then maybe we should all call ESR and raise hell since they packaged it for me...

But then again.. how much HP differencr are we talking 2,3, maybe 5,, not hardly the 10-15 we cant find..

I havea 421 cub bashee that makes 98HP with drag pipes and
91 with t-5's. thats 7hp difference..

well what did you tell them that you would be using it for? Is it a drag quad, or do you want to ride it? If its a drag quad then they screwed up, and you should raise hell. But the numbers still seem low.

The other thing that i'm not sure about is... are the esr pipes made for big bores, or stock bore 250's? I know sparks used to make a big bore pipe, so maybe the engine is just getting corked up.

the center mounts are for the big bores

That's screwed. Those numbers sound better for a 265... Either you did something wrong putting it together or they did something wrong making it.

well there not to hard putting them together...
Ive built several banshee motors.
Ill give ESR a call and get thier thoughts..

Its not a drag bike but a circle track bike.

several things. first ESR doesnt do EXTREME porting on anything.

ESR makes good pipes, they make big bore center and standard mount TRX 5 and TRX 11 pipes.

mixing 11 porting with a 5 pipe that is possibly a pipe meant for a small bore will kill power.

the bigger bores dont make a ton of HP (but yes 56 is low) but they make up for it in torque.

being a PV cylender will also decrease peak power, ESR does not port differently on PV jugs.

while 56 is low, for the setup you have direct from esr i would say its about right.

you have a top end port on a quad that has almost know top end performance pieces, everything else is midrange. i wouldnt expect great things from it.

its hard to talk hp for me because there is some one allways knocking you down
56 is low i have to agree i have an ep 265 thats 58 with a drag pipe and at 52 with a trx 5 center mount my 330 from esr with the trx 11 pipe is only 63 hp but i have only a 38 mm carb i think i am leaving hp on the table

if i run a filter sock i lose a hp compared to an open filter so hp on a dyno is hard to compare and again this is just my 2 cents

i can tell you that if you are out front hp number really dont mean much

just my take on it

not to change topics or steal your thread but i have a CT 310 cylender on my R and jetting is a lil off, i know, but i have a LRD pipe on it...shoudl i look into buying a different pipe...is 310 big enough to go to a big bore pipe?? will a ESR trx 5 or 11 pipes do me any good on my CT cylender?

I have a esr 310 pv with the trx5 centermount pipe and k&n and it makes 54hp really rich. It will be 60 once I jet it. I say just get the trx11 pipe and be done with it. if thats not enough then send it to a builder that does great port work. howmuch does porting affect these pv cylinders is my question.

how big of an improvement would a TRX 11 pipe be over my LRD? would a TRX 11 work well with a CT 310 cylender?? i wanna get my R runing real strong, it barly outruns raptors with how its running really rich

well you could always jet it right....

please dont tell me you currently have a 310 and are barely outrunning raptors...

06-30-2006, 06:26 PM
haha, yeah, the guy i bought it from didnt have it jetted right and i never fine tuned anything besides my shee, (i knew what EXACTLY to jet it to) but now this R...i am kinda playing it by ear ya know...well anyways it ws at like a 178 main and i droped down to a 172 or 170, and still is rich because i fould my first plug on it (but never foud a plug at 178...weird) i cant remember what the pilot jet is...any suggestions?? i would guess my R to be around 38-40 hp...shouldnt a 310 be around 50? any idea on what to jet it to?? thanks!

youve got me confused... am i understanding it right that you have a 310 kit and that what you said was your jetting for the 310, and that you are barely beating raptors and you think you only have about 38-40 horses?

06-30-2006, 09:33 PM
yeah thats what i would guess it to be around....shouldnt a 310 have around 50 hp?? or 48?? and yes what i said is jetting for my 310....raptors make like 34 hp or so...i wouldnt say my R is maing anymore then 41 hp tho....it just dont feel that powerful....i am gonna screw with it a lil more tomarrow
