new OEM rear fender question

I just got my new OEM fenders(05 style) for my 02 400ex. Notice the extra peice of plastic that supports the red fenders. This peice wont let the fenders mount. It is not there on my yellow plastic. Should I just cut it off?

If the rest is the same, I'd just chop it off.

Unless it's there to hold them together... If it is, leave some stubs then grind little notches to run a strap of some sort across.

its probably just there for shippin reasons... every 05 seat i've taken off don't have that! i'd cut it...

yeah that isnt on my fenders, i bet it was for shipping like tommy 17 said. i would just cut it off.

thanks guys, I cut it off yesterday and it fits just fine. Ill get some pics up tomorrow of my new 05 plastic and hood. It looks better than I thought.
