someone told me a cr 250 engine is better than a trx 250r engine, and said to put a cr 250 engine on my rolling chassis(86 250r) that i have.........do those engines line up or what do i have to do to do that..........

not sure what you would have to do...but it would run alot better i would imagine...Cr250s are sweet, i have one for sale....i have seen it done be4, you probally just have to have custom motor mounts...

It would vibrate like crazy. The cr 250's don't have counterbalancers. But to each there own.

CR 250 motor in an R frame will vibrate like crazy, only is a 5 speed, and wouldnt be as fast as an R bottom end with a big bore cylinder.

man... go with the R motor... for the hassle and everything else, you could always mod your R engine and make it faster than the cr engine... stick with whats supposed to be in there

if your going to put a dirt bike motor in it you might as well get a lonestar frame and put a crf450 motor in it and make it a hybrid

that would be cool, except putting a 4-stroke in a R frame is like castration.

Cr transmissions are designed for bikes, not quads. They aren't stout enough.

Come on guys--we all know that the right answer here = CR500.

all of these answers are from people who do not have this type of set up so they are just repeating here say. I have been running gncc races for the past three years on cr 250 motored quads and the tranmission is the strongest part. There is no better way to test durability of a quad than gncc racing. I run total stock motor and have pulled every holeshot against all 250r combinations of powervalved big boars. Also the 2 muddiest races of the year I was the only 250r that finshed. I would have won again at the wisp had I not lost an axle nut and gator clip causing me to lose my rear tire 3 times on the last after taking over the lead. Talk to those that have not those that talk out there ***.

I have a freshly gusseted and powder coated candy blue lonestar frame with cr 250 motor, radiator, pipe carb, and electronics to sell.

Aren't you riding a Service Honda Quad (400EX with a CR250R motor swap)? I am digging through the GNCC coverage right now looking for shots of 250R's.

Found ya! Jeff Brest - currently 2nd in the 2stroke class behind Ryan Schockling.

I have three of them, I am selling the lonestar chassis because the heavier tubing is not needed. The stock 400ex chassis has proven to be durable enough for racing. With 4 more stock frame sittin in the garage I have no need for the lonestar frame.
