Was it a mild port or full race port,,,or do you know what he did??

10-10-2001, 11:29 AM
I really do not know he said he had a template he has found that works well and it really does.

10-10-2001, 11:38 AM
He said mine was just a good clean up, he can go wild or mild he said.

10-10-2001, 11:40 AM
I think I'll be goin with the cleanup or play porting as most places call it,,,,GT thunder charges 50 bucks,,,I don't think that sounds to bad,,,but Terry at marcums charges 40 for the same thing...decisions,,decisions.. :huh

while...play porting is really just polishing or smoothing the ports..i think.i was thinking of doing it my self if i can find a valve spring tool but i don't know what i exactly want to do now

Dont port yourself, if it isnt perfect, it will run worse than before. Most places have mounted grinders and templates.

i think if i can port chevy 350 heads these shouldn't be so bad

Rico I had mine done at Magics, It seems mine was pricey compared to what others posted , a full race port was like $200.
If you call them I would ask for Matt, he knows it all.

I had mine full race ported and large valves installed for around $300.00. Scott Smith at Pro Fab ATV did mine. All they do is hondas. They don't screw around with all the brands. They do one thing and do it right. I have a friend that has the same mods as me, but ported by someone else, my bike is faster, so that satisfied me.Pro Fab ATV (http://www.profabatv.com)

my full race port and polish was $350. the intake and exhaust ports are polished enough that they looked like my rims that i polish with a buffer

HOTT440EX I'd like to see a dyno on that motor of yours!! I've seen a fully built LRD 465 and a Curtis Sparks 460, neither produced that kind of horsepower. They produce tons of torque, but not that much HP!! Tell it to someone who doesn't know much about building 400's, I've got alot of experience. The best combo I've found is the 416. Blows all the 440's and 465's away.

it's also funny that up until a month ago hott440 didn't even know it was a 465...he thought it was a 440 it everyone started to ask him where he got a stroked 440...then it was magicaly turn into a 465 by the atv fairy...i wanna see a pic of this quad cause i think if i was the father of a 14 year old i'd never buy a little kid that kinda quad....i think hott440 is a bs-er and has a yamaha blaster and wishes he owned a honda

They make a 465 kit now check out the new Dirt wheels zine. I'll go with the guy that said 416 will blow 440's away. True. I have mine bored over 1 to an 86mm Dome pistone 11:1 with a mild cam and play porting work done on the head and there are two guys that have the 440 kit and can't touch me. FACT, I spent 300.00 for port work and with the piston and gasket kit, they spent like 5-600 just for thier dumb kit and labor.:huh

if you, mcgrathsucks. knew much of anything about building the 400EX motor, you would know you can have a 440 stroker. all you do is bore it to a 416 and then use a 4.5 mm stroker crank.

Is your piston an 87mm or 89 mm? Do you even know? If you had a billet cam, then it wouldn't be hard faced. Are you sure about your mods? Or is there really no 400, and you're trying to be cool?

The piston is 89mm for sure. the invoice says: "RFVC 400EX part#55911 cam by web" so you can check that part number and see if he just typed it wrong on his price sheet or do whatever you want. i would post the invoice but it wont work, it says the file size is too large. All the work done by Fletch Trick. He does the big gun race engines and has two AMA four stroke titles

i sense bull**** in the air

Web Cam does not make any billet cams for the 400 EX. They only reweld and grind stock cams for the 400. So learn a little then talk about your mods.

Next question is----Do you have a spacer plate between the cylinder and crankcase?

Chef
10-12-2001, 03:18 PM
yes i do as a matter of fact

10-12-2001, 08:07 PM
i like the fact he;ll post the invoice but no pics of the quad...bull ****er

Chef
10-12-2001, 11:04 PM
ill gladly post a pic of the quad, but first i have to get film, take the pic, then get it small enough to post it. ill get film tomorrow, then have it developed monday if we can take enough pics on the camera, then if i cant get it to work ill have leo or 3punksdad post it, until then, later

10-13-2001, 12:25 AM
you mean first you have to comb the web for a 465 then steal there pic and claim it's yours

Chef
10-13-2001, 09:06 AM
think what you want, but you'll see a pic of my quad

10-13-2001, 12:45 PM
