well a ngk spark plug for a 400 is a dpr8z or a dpr9z.

18mm

They're kind of a pain to get out because many sockets are too thick to fit all the way down in the head. The plug wrench in the tool kit is the best choice. If you don't have the tool kit then you may need to jet a thin wall socket.

Some report that regualar sockets work fine for them. I suspect variations in the casting of the head make some a tighter fit than others....

No. The DPR9Z is the same as a DPR8Z but of a colder heat range.

Great example of why not to trust your dealer or auto parts store! lol

I'm not breakin' your balls, I'm just letting you know there is a 9. The manual even lists the 9 as an optional plug.

I thought the 9 was a hotter plug?

It can depend on the manufacture. I think there may still be a few companies that has a scale going the opposite direction. But for NGK...

Wow! the whole time I had my Jetskiis I ran br9es plugs because I thought they were hotter than the br8es. I was told that when I bought the plugs. Kinda makes me feel dumb! Oh well, thats what I get for believing someone at Schucks.

I believe that it is a 13/16 inch socket

Nope. It's more like 23/32. But it seems I've lost my 23/32 deep socket yet AGAIN! Arghhhh! I go through like 1 a week. :ermm:

Seriously though, a 3/4" would work if you could get it to fit in the head (which isn't likely).
