so you CAN do one w/ you're foot in the grab bar, but you CANT do one sitting down because you ''have to use the rear brake''? if you're using the rear brake then you're going back too far. you're going PAST balance point. idk what other advice to give other than try not to go back as far, see if that will help at all. keep at it man.

just keep practicing to find the balance point. if the quad tips back, just be prepared to bail if neccesary.:D the good thing with land stunting is that if you do have an "accident" or fall off, the consequences arent nearly as bad as FMX. Wear proper safety gear(helmet, chest protector, whatever else you need) and have fun!

thanks guys i will try it tonight if i go out and will let you no tomarow thanks.

no i can do a wheelie sitting down using the bak break just clearing things up just not verry long i also like going slow so if i can just stay in 1st or 2nd gear i dont like going fast doing a wheelie beacuse i no how it feels when you hit thegrab bar going fast and fall off so if i can just go slow and do one thanks for your time.

just keep practiceing.thats what im doing.i can go a good distance standing up but sitting down i kept falling off but i kept trying and now i can get in 3rd gear sitting down before it either drops down or hits the grab bar.usually if i feel it going back to far i tap the rear brake.

Just take your time. It took me 3 years to get used to it on wheelies, and now i can go in 5th gear forever.

Yeah.... "Best thing I've done so far" is gonna go out the window when you go on a long ride. I have a gripper seat, and if you wear loose pants and boxer shorts, your pants won't move but your butt will. It will cause a lot of friction on your butt and especially your legs from rubbing the sides. Once on an especially long ride, I got chafing and rashes on my legs and butt that hurt for days. My balls were even sore for a few hours afterwards.

The thing with wheelies is the balance point. The 400EX's is sort of high, but your weight changes it. If you have to use the brake try sitting in a different spot on the seat. Another thing is, don't use the brake anymore. Make yourself a nice strong rear grabber out of steel, doesn't have to be pretty, and just let yourself fall. If you get used to using that brake, you might start using it too early. It's better if you learn exactly when you're going to fall.

i know this may sound like the end results would be more painful....but IN MY OPINION the best place to learn wheelies is on pavement. on grass, as you clutch up your tires wont grip as well, and there are always unseen bumps and things of that nature. as for doing it on sand.....same thing i guess. if you start out learning on pavement, you will only have to learn balance point and minimal brake control. plus you wont have to worry about bumps, and such. and i found that its best to ride in sand/grass AFTER learning how to hold b/p because then you can concentrate on brake control as you go over all the uneven terrain. again, just my OPINION but i found that it works well.

i agree with him on this one i have a 2000 banshee and last saturday i was doin a wheelie in the grass when it hit a bump and bounced in the air on me...and the end results were severely bent wheelie bar bent handle bars(almost backwards) cracked upper left swingarm and a bent front shock and five stitches in my leg...so id listen to jd450 on this one:(

learn to do them in 2nd with your left foot on the grab bar and right on the brake. you can do alot of cool stuff from here. check out our video for balancing points and an idea on things you can throw into the mix. i'm on the 400ex and at the time i had only been riding for a couple of months... practice pays off...

You don't need a pipe and filter but it helps by adding throttle response and giving you more control.
