i have a 2004 400ex and have finally got the money for a pipe, but i have a decision between a white bros aluminum pro complete, yoshimura rs-3 comp slip on, or a hmf sport slip on. which one would be good for mx racing, looking for some low range to mid power comin out of corners and more tourqe hittin bigger jumps. another ? would be the jet size after i get the exhaust, i have a uni filter and ill sometimes take the lid off depending on track conditions. thanks

Get a full yoshi, 395. 95 at rockymountainatv
not to sure about jetting, maybe a 160 main and 42 pilot

you could jet for the airlid being off, and get an outwear and leave the lid off, or drill holes in the lid.

yea why only slip-ons for the yosh and hm they run about 400 each. the WB is liek 520 for the cheapest aluminum pro ive seen. id recomend the yosh or hmf full systems. i got the yosh but they are both awsome pipes

I went with the Yoshi full RS-3 system and have been very happy with it. I just rejetted this weekend down to a 165 primary, and it runs like a champ. I had been at 170 and it sucked *****. My bud has the same bike I do except he's got the WB, and I just barely get him somewhere between 2nd & 3rd. Plus I think the Yosh looks awesome. http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h129/buster024/P1010190.jpg

Did you chnage your needle position or pilot jet when you installed the pipe?

Yeah, it took some tuning. I finally settled on a 165 main, and two notches down on my needle. It took some fiddlin' with. I followed Dynojets instructions when I rejetted the first time, and it ended up runnin' WAY to rich. I think i've got a hot bike anyway. It's jetted differently than my other one that I bought exactly at the same time (same make/year/model).

After you get the Yoshi, which is the best one, I would go with about a 155 main, 40 pilot, and the middle(3rd) position on the needle clip. Jet it w/o the lid on, because whenever you take the lid off your probably looking for the most power right ?? So when your looking for the most power you want it jetted correctly.

I have an hmf slipon on my 400 and i love it. gopartsdirect.com has them for $217 with free shipping. it gave me so much more power, mainly bottom and mid but i ride a lot of woods so i love. it would be a great pipe for motocross. i have a K & N and i think a 156 main jet and i can keep up with my neighbors stock 450r on a circle track down the road. it pulls hard and sounds awesome. go with the hmf. believe me you wont be dissapointed.

i would go with the HMF slip-on with the FMF powerbomb headers. i have this on my 440 and i love the sound and the power i got out of the combo. i think you woud love it to and the cost is about 450.00 al together not including shipping. and i would got the colored HMF pipes it ooks real good setting on the bike it reall sets it out from the crowd.:D
