OK, so I made the switch from my crf450r to my brand new Raptor 700R. I was wondering what mods I should do to make it woods race ready? Besides Nerf bars and skid plates. I'm not sure if I should get longer a-arms or not or to maybe use wheel spacers. Or is it good stock? (this is my first quad) I live in Alabama and the trails are tight and rocky in places. I don't have an unlimited budget but would like to make it competitive. Any ideas? Are there other people that are racing the 700R? Just trying to see what other mods people are doing. Coming from a bike I'm not really sure where to start.

For XC, they dont need much past a good set of shocks and skid plates. harlen has done very well with very little seat time on his test raptor.

skids, tether, stabilizer, and perhaps some Flexx Bars. that should be more than enough:)

Ive got YFZ front shocks, nerfs, CR type high bend bars, handlebar block risers, front bumper, rear grab bar(both that can hold a # plate) and a killswitch. I race in SE quads and see ya there from time to time :blah: .

i rode the 700 for the 1st time at round 1 in florida~ i had never rode a raptor let alone sit on one~ it is an AWESOME machine i love the power delivery 1000 times better than the yfz~

i havent ran any other shocks on the 700 not even the stock ones so i cant compare~

unfortunatly my shocks arent even close to being dialed in right for me so i have been fighting them all season which really blows~ works is re-springing them for me and im headed to MN. in a few weeks for a test ride on them to get it more tuned in~

the quads gettin a complete make over and will have all kinds of more goodies on her when its done!

keep yer out out in future upcoming ATVsport mag.

Kim, is your bumper tweeked? I think that's got to be the weekest point on the raptor is those thin little tac welded bumper mounts.

my bumper was tweek'd after round 1 after the Wisp i came in and my bumper was GONE~lol~ i didnt know till someone told me~ i hit a couple trees in a few rounds but the wisp rocks did it in~ my suspension is SO soft the bumper just got beat on the rocks til the brackets broke (frame brackets)
