Hello ,

After thinking how to put the WP Steering dampner on my 400EX , that already cost me 3 hours . I came up with this setup . What do you guys think , the steering stem is the LSR one .

i would put some washers on those bolts going through your stem. I'm really skeptic about that....drilling through your LSR stem?!?!?!

You don't think your foot will hit it???

It look like when you would use your brake adn turn to teh right that the Rod would smash your foot. Maybe not but just an idea.

O yeah and i would be skeptical about drilling through your nice stem.

Ok guys ,

Making one thing clear ...:

- This is a temp setup , meaning the bolts are also temp .

- The piece connected thru my stem needs to be chromed

- Drilling truh my stem will not do anything about the strengt ...

The Steering dampner will NOT hit my foot , because I thougt of that ...The rod will slide underneed the engine ...

what are ya nuts i took a year of metalurgy (SP) and you just completly screwed the tensil strenght of you stem anytime you cut metal you weaken that just a fact that's why we have the stamping procedure i'm not saying your goin to snap your stem now i'm just saying that you did weaken it and if get that stem tweaked hard enough i can tell you exactly where it will break, where you drilled those holes

I dont know about that setup. I guess what ever floats your boat, but I can tell you one thing, I would never run that stabilizer setup like that. And I would never drill into my stem.

Ugly Muther is right

Anytime you Cut or Bend or Drill metal it becomes weaker. I would be more worrier about busting a stem rather then hitting my foot. Cause you gonna bust your foot anyway when you bust a stem and can't steer adn then hit a tree.

True that

I do not think that anybody has seen the previous pic correctly :

The wheels are already turned on their max , so it WILL NEVER hit my foot .

The holes in my stem did maybe weakend it , but it wil be welded anyway and than chromed , so that issue i do not care ....

Even if the stem breakes when I make a crash , so what ?? As long as I do not have any fracture

my cents

Not a bright idea to weld that hack setup onto your stem....i would have just bought the right thing and not have destroyed a $350 stem....

Blah, Blah, Blah about the stem strength guys. News flash!, that part of the stem has about ZERO load on it!

When your land wrong or your front tires hit something and it just about tares your arms off I don't want a week stem, imagine busting over a big jump, you land wrong....that now week stem snaps....ouch..

:huh :huh :huh riiiiiggggghhhhhtttt now look at it this way you land a little crooked and you bars are trying to be ripped out of your hands now ask yourself how did that force get transfered from you wheels to you bars, uhhh i don't think it was via your swingarm:rolleyes:

$100 says his stem with the hole drilled in at that spot will last as long as any other.

I agree with MXBubs ... I just think everybody is so fixed on the beauty of that stem because it is "LSR" and it cost me 325 $ ...

I think if I toke the original stem nobody woud care about the 2 stupid M6 Holes ....

I think also a lot of people are jalous and never founded a way of a good spot for mounting their Steering dampner that not came directly Mountable for a 400EX . What I mean is that this Steering Dampner is not ment to be for a 400EX , it is a standard one .By the way , I did today a good testride with 70 feet jumps and it works fine . Even the turns works great and it doesn't come near the area of my foot .

And at last , for me performance counts , not the look of it ... If I want to be first in a race , the look of it will not help me with that .

tnx for your critics and time ...

P.S : I know I am not perfect mecanic , but **** I am proud of what I made and I am sure not a lot of people could do better
