I do a lot of trail riding and i plan on doing some racing and i want something a little better than the stock 400 shocks. Im trying to decide if i want to get 450r shocks or save up my money and get elkas. for the price i like the 450 shocks. If anybody has 450 shocks on their 400 let me know how you like them.

I have them, they are an improvement over stock but if you plan on doing any serious racing, get them rebuilt to work properly on the 400ex....If you don't your shocks will bottom out way before your a-arms/joints/ rear end... Do to the fact they are longer than stock, your ride height in the front will also increase. Also, if you are are under 200 pounds they will prolly feel very stiff.

will they work though if you don't have them rebuilt?

I'm not sure but I think Laz at GT Thunder is the only one I know of that rebuilds 450r shocks to work on the 400ex... I don't think Santo does the conversion from 450r to 400ex but double check..

Most of the builders can make them work on the 400ex, some choose not to.

I am having a set of R shocks redone to work on a 300EX:eek2:

How much does gt or derisi charge to rebuild them?
